Any Advice for a first time Web designer?

I've worked on the data side of the tech industry for many years. Now I'm using Squarespace to make a website for a friend's business. He's selling a few items. Any advice? I've never done web design before.

Probs don't get into it for a career.

If he wants you to make him an online store I'd recommend an easy platform like Shopify. I don't know Squarespace though, maybe it already has all the functionality you need.

find a good tech stack, get a solid outline of what the design should look like, figure out hosting and domain, look into a database (mongo)

if your not very css fluent look into tailwind and bootstrap

semantic HTML will keep your code much cleaner and easier to review and adjust

make sure your IDE has Emmet for all your languages as it will save you a ton of typing

I’ve made some using wix.
It’s not really much more difficult than making an intricate PowerPoint.

Thinking about it, what helped me a ton with the design aspect was gaining a basic understanding of color theory.

Here's an article that might help:

it will help but just for a one time thing getting some sort of template or layout with pre built elements like bootstrap is his best bet

diving into ui design and responsive design for a one off project is a huge rabbit hole to fall into.

using wix or square space could help too
for a one off thing
