WASHINGTON — The first six people to stand trial on rioting charges stemming from violent protests in downtown Washington, D.C., on President Trump's inauguration day were found not guilty on all counts Thursday morning.

Lawson, a registered nurse from Pittsburgh, said she broke into tears upon hearing the verdict.

"This sets an incredible precedent for activists facing state repression," she said.

The six were among more than 200 people to face felony and misdemeanor charges for what prosecutors called a riot. Anti-Trump protesters marched through the streets on inauguration day, where some smashed windows, lit fires and tossed bricks at police, injuring six officers.

I think I am going to form a gang of masked vigilantes called the "Che Guevara Rough Riders" or CGRR for short, and go around pepper spraying, beating, and robbing people in MAGA Hats and give the proceeds to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Not really based on the outcome of this, or anything the goons of antifa do in general, I just want to see who will lionize and condemn my revolutionary brigade.

Hmm. Anyone rushing to praise, anything, for or against Trump might want to keep in mind that political intimidation or violence of any kind is hypocritical and disgusting, and leads to trouble for a free society.

Let's be clear what this story is. Breaking a window is vandalism. Punching someone is assault.

Not only could the government not prove these charges, but most certainly had no business charging these people with felony rioting, when they cant even prove vandalism.

All well and good, but to the point, how about let's not fucking prosecute people for rioting when there is no evidence they did any physical or property harm to anybody.

I'm into this.

As well, for all power law enforcement is willing to flex when it wishes, we should expect law enforcement to separate the Che Guevara Rough Riders and American Greatness gaggles so they do not riot or try to suppress each other's vibrant and diverse, or more likely radical, stupid, or even hateful opinions.

Because we desperately need those opinions for freedom and discourse to operate.

Start to restrict some, and whatever social manager is next in the political line will want to restrict others.
