One of them, an Englishman, wrote a book about it: Angry White Pajamas. After the course had finished, he met up with one of Riot Cops he had trained with and asked him if he'd ever had to use Aikido on the job. The cop laughed and replied,

"You're joking - that's why we have guns!"

I did it for 6 months in my early 20’s then moved on to BJJ. Learning to break fall was very helpful cause I never wrestled or did judo. Probably saved me from a lot of injuries.
