This is just a pretext for Trump to attack legitimate liberal groups and bring the power of his office to bear on people who oppose him. If you torture somebody, then *you* become a war criminal. By definition. Your logic is literally “it’s ok to commit war crimes against this guy because he committed war crimes.” Torture is inexcusable. Violating international law and subjecting other human beings to torture doesn’t suddenly become ok because you think someone’s a bad person. It doesn’t become ok even if they truly are a bad person.

There were social media posts calling us enemies of the country that needed to be “dealt with” (I wonder what the mean by that?), and calling for us all to be rounded up and thrown into prisons and mental institutions before we even knew anything about the shooter—it didn’t matter who the shooter was.
