I didn't want to post this in the War Room (although there is a good chance this thread will be moved there) because everything will turn to mush within the hour. Anyway, what are the anti-science beliefs that are unique to each political side?

Now, I'm not saying everyone on the right or left hold these anti-science beliefs. I'm saying that these anti-science beliefs are usually found on the far side of these political parties.

Right
Anti-Climate Change
Anti-Evolution

Left
Anti-Vaccines
Anti-GMO
Alternate Medicine (to some extent)

Other
Flat Earthers
No Dinos
Moon Landing is a Hoax

I'm not sure where to categorize the ones in the "other" section as I think I've seen people from both ends of the spectrum supporting those beliefs.

So, what other anti-science beliefs are out there and where do they fall on the spectrum?

The WR thread on this was actually pretty decent iirc. Jon Haidt has some good work out there where he tries to categorize the motivations behind (American) partisan political beliefs and the consequent irrationalities that emerge from them. The religious right is the most salient group, but the environmentalist left tends to hold a few beliefs that cross over into a kind of mysticism too.

Common to both sides seems to be skepticism concerning beliefs that are distant from immediate experience and propagated by groups deemed untrustworthy (scientists/corporations). When faced with a choice to accept or reject such information, the right tends to follow intuitions that favour themselves and their in-groups while the left pushes more to expand their circle of empathy to include outsiders and resist marginalization/exploitation.

Wait, people are actually anti evolution? How?

This is spot on.

Wait, people are actually anti evolution? How?
Idiots.

Scientists are way too uptight IMO.
Seriously if you think people came from monkeys or vaccines can't kill you I don't know what to say.

The flat Earth and no dinosaurs I believe is also a right wing thing, attempting to justify literal interpretation of the bible through some convoluted conspiracy about the last 300 years of scientific discovery being false.

I'm not sure though. I think other than that, the OP nailed it. Although the right seems to just outright dismiss any data and/or empirical evidence these days, which covers a lot more than climate science and evolution.

Evolution doesn't say we came from monkeys. Do you even science bro?

Climate Change denial isn't a far right fringe phenomenon, virtually every Republican in the US Congress and Senate does all they can to destroy this planet as much as possible.

As for anti-GMO's and Anti-Vaccine types, I've met conservatives who believe those things as well as liberals.

I honestly can't tell if you're joking or not, but just in case you aren't...

Like I said....
If you read the bible you'd know. God made polio for a reason. Who the fuck are these "scientists" trying to fuck up a good plague?

American Republicans ARE far right.

There hasn't been a living moderate Republican seen in the wild in decades.

They're still mainly liberal thingies.

Race anti-realism could be another one for the left. Depending on your definitions of "race" and "realism".
