Social Anti-Masker Megathread

It's not selfish. It's my right to breathe fresh air and it's your right to stay home/stay safe and wear a mask so that you don't expose yourself if you are vulnerable with risk factors

When you go into a store or government building without a mask you are infringing on others' rights . Because you are selfish and self-centered you expect others to stay home. No one cares if you don't wear a mask while out mowing the lawn or driving , but in a public space you put others at risk and the more people who do not wear a mask the more people will feel it is ok to not wear a mask.

I hope more people feel it's ok not to wear a mask. It's their God given right to breath fresh air in public.

I think we agree:

Guy should be wearing a mask.

The live and let live point I was trying to make is beyond the current mask situation. I just don't feel comfortable with strangers video taping people without their consent.

By all means, confront they guy and tell him he should be wearing a mask.

Don't video strangers in stores
Don't video kids at the playground
Don't video people as they put their shopping carts back.
Don't video people in restaurants.
Don't video students at school.
Don't video people at the dog park
Don't video people at the gym.

Did I miss any?
I think I understand you. And I also think that these people would be publicly shamed with or without the cameras. But the cameras being present is simply a function of technological progress. I agree in that I don't think the filming is necessary for effective public shaming. I don't think this guy is thinking in the moment about how the video this stranger is taking will make them look. They're concerned with the people in their immediate vicinity. So the real life, present public shaming is what's effective. The cameras being present is just a function of technological advancement and a commodity based economy. Not sure what you can do about that.

I cant imagine getting that mad about someone lecturing me to wear a mask

I would not even look in their direction

Shit isn't worth my time whatsoever
I'm sure it had nothing to do with "lecturing". Its store policy. If you're not going to wear a mask you can't be in the store.

I met an older gentleman off of armslist to sell him a browning BAR and he actually apologized to me for him wearing a mask.

I just cannot imagine living somewhere where people actually lecture or meanmug those without them
when it comes down to it...people don't like wearing masks...but "misery loves company"

also, if you respond to people without anger/aggression, it goes a long way

"you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar"

It should be everybody's choice to wear one or not wear one. I don't shame the mask wearer if they have fears about it either.

Check out this fucking douche bag. He assaulted a disabled, 72 year old veteran, breaking his jaw, because the veteran had asked the douche bag's girlfriend to put on a mask when she was in the lobby.

The lesson here is mind your own business. People suddenly have this idea that it is their right to harass others and bother them. Just leave people alone, if someone does not have a mask on stay away from them. Instead everyone thinks it is their duty to go over tell others they need to have a mask on.

It's not exactly clear if he is screaming at a store employee or some 'concerned citizen'
Could be. I'm gonna go ahead and infer that this video is similar to the hundreds of others that have flooded the internet of entitled boomers and Karen's berating minimum wage employees for doing their job and asking them to wear a mask. Until better information presents itself, I'm fairly certain that's what happened.

How are we supposed to take you seriously?

#1.If you're wearing a mask why the fuck do you care if somebody else isn't?
Oh I know you'll have your canned response "masks arnt 100% effective so you need to wear it to protect vulnerable people in masks"
Well if masks do not protect you then go and scream at the mask company not the people not wearing them.

2. Yeah nothing says preserve rights and freedoms like burning Statues and terrorizing innocent people

But yeah be concerned about conservatives who don't wear a mask that isn't even 100 percent effective

I did as you said and went and screamed at the mask company and now I have to do community service wtf?

if merely asking why someone is not wearing a mask during a frigging pandemic is "harassing" someone then people need to toughen up

"hey theres a pandemic and i noticed you are not wearing a mask"
punches elderly man until jaw broken and unconscious "because muh freedumbs MAGA"

I’m massively anti-left nowadays but something like a mask is a MINOR inconvenience and what seems to be lost on the right wingers, who seem even more deranged telling him he CANT wear a mask. Absolutely the opposite of what he ‘thinks’ he thinks. Trump had it half right. There are morons both sides. Side for freedom over government control, but at least be consistent. Ie. you don’t have the right to control others either
