Anthony Smith is so bad....

....that fighters retire when they lose to him
...that he needs a striker to attempt lame takedowns in order to win the fight
....that he was unable to finish the fight with strikes
...that he always needs to get into a dog fight to win
...that even if he gets another gr8 win he will never fight Jones again because he fought like a scared pussycat the first time
...that he will almost surely lose his next big fight
...that top tier fighters won't fight him cause they know that won't get the a TS

That performance against Jones..Gus's second performance was wretched too but it didn't bother me as much because it didn't last. How did Jones not finish Smith?? There were points when I was fast forwarding through it that I had to stop it and back up because I swore I saw Anthony just sitting down on the mat..

It would have been better for his career if Jones ended it in the first and I'll be the first to admit I favored Gus because of that shitshow and how angry it made me. I can't fully disagree with the TS and like the fight I forwarded through this thread so maybe he made some points I don't agree with. It does take a special kind of bad performance to override any of your last performances on this site but that's how bad that thing was. It made me mad at Jones too.

My initial that Jon could've finished him any time he saw fit

But he showed him mercy

Understandably so, fact is that it was a mismatch.

Dude has just bought himself 4 to 5 more main events with that win last night, even if there fight nights. Lets say Luke wins his next fight and faces him...its easily a fight night main event. If he wins that...he COULD get a rematch vs jones. Once again a main event...if he loses the ufc could put him back in the middleweight division. They could give him an easy fight. He wins that and they could immediately have him challenge for the middleweight title. Its nuts.

That's how it happens.

You've got retards trashing GSP's record because Jon Fitch was never any good. Those people need to be euthanized.

GSP fanboys are the ones who need to be euthanized.

I got that mercy vibe too. It didn't seem like Jones was pissed or anything because there were just too many times he could've torn into him but did not. That had to be the reason why I wasn't as angry toward Jones because I thought he was showing some sort of sympathy.

TS, you need to ask yourself what you have achieved in your life except bashing a top 5 professional fighter in an online karate forum.

Yet despite TS' criticism, he some how keeps winning and has managed to turn his career around. Yeah he looked like shit against Jones, and I don't think he's a future champ, but props to him anyways for what he has managed to do.

I think he's improved a lot, even IN his last few fights

Against Gus he looked calm. Calculated, picked his shots, he was patient.

He's better than I gave him credit for being

People love to criticize, especially when it fits their narrative. Smith sucks, lhw sucks, he’s a mw, etc. it’s amusing.

He’s actually a lot better than people give him credit for, and I include myself in that (or at least I used to, I’m starting to appreciate him more now).

Just because he looks like the quintessential Tapout Lord and Meathead/Clubber style fighter, people place him in that bracket: however, he fights with the guile and trickery that one would expect from a veteran with so many fights. Granted, he’s not the finest example of the Martial Arts and will most likely never pick up the strap, but he’s a good fighter and manipulates the intangibles in fights to forge a path to victory.

He’s also quite a bit more articulate than you’d assume he’d be based on how he looks. I was shocked to discover that he gives some of the sport’s most thoughtful interviews.

This looks like a lame attempt to start a thread similar to the 'Tony Ferguson is the type of guy...' threads. You suck at this @Kaiserjuan.

You’re right and it’s a very good point. He’s measured and much more cerebral in his approach than one would imagine. Interesting that we’re discussing this following the events in the boxing last night, actually. Ruiz Jr looked like fuckall squared compared to Joshua, yet did the business in the ring.

I guess these stereotypes will continue to exist; however, the true fans know what they’re watching.
