Jon Jones found the biggest hole in Anthony Smith's game, and now other fighters have exploited it.
Every time he ends up in that turtle position, he gets trapped there.
Glover did it to Anthony, and now Rakic.
Smith's next opponent will use the same offense strategy against him and he's going to be trapped in that same exact position all over again.

Don't you agree?

He's definitely not great at getting up from that position. Anyone with a good top game has a good shot vs Smith.

The fact is that Anthony's a journeyman with solid all-around but unspectacular skills. He's had a very solid career given his skillset. I highly doubt he'll get anywhere near a title shot again, but he'll probably continue to give us decent wars as a LHW gatekeeper over the next few years. I'll never question his heart.

His only notable wins were Lombard/Volkan and possibly Gus (Although he's 3-9 and not really known for anything besides his Jones war). His resume was way fluffed with wins over glass chin Shad and way over the hill Shogun which caused him to sneak in line for a title. I agree he wasn't as significant in the division as people originally believed prior to Jones fight.

I just wanna know if he trained at all for this one

he is the definition of fake it until you make it. he beat up some washed up undersized fighters and was gifted a shot in a really shallow division and then threw 5 punches against jones. truth is I just dont think he's that good.

He got a title shot off of wins over Shogun and Rashad and there were no options but him for Jones....he was never that good he was sort of like Alexis Davis when she fought Ronda, the champ just needed an opponent to stay active

And taken quite a bit of damage in his last couple fights. Not good, seeing as he already had a lot of mileage.

He's a guy who happened to have a good run
