Anthony Smif

Honestly I have no clue how Smith has got so many big opportunities and chances, this was a guy who used to get tossed around and beaten up at WW!!!!, and it was never his fault, he always has an excuse for everything. It was the same at MW and LHW. He's just really not that good compared to many other UFC fighters who never got the big opportunities and chances like Smith did.

I don't know what UFC see in him. And the thing about Smith is its not like he takes his losses graciously, quite the opposite, there is always a so called weight cut issue, or injury, or foul, or early refs stoppage as to why he lost, he has every excuse going, its never his fault. I was very bored of him a long time ago, UFC make him out to be a superstar. Totally baffling to me

Management seems to favor the ones that work as analysts over everyone else, even legends. Michelle Waterson, another also-ran, got way more recognition and praise as well.

Very true, good point. Also thats another thing.. I have no clue how they gave him an analysist job either. Maybe he is eye candy to a lot of people LOL because I'm just not getting it.

They'll probably dedicate the entire international fight week in July for his entry into the UFC Hall of Fame :rolleyes::rolleyes:

All this praise for Anthony Smif. Cam someone please explain to me a time when he was actually good. He routinely quits on himself and defeats himself. And he eeked out a fucking split decision against a drunk home intruder. He's awful and comes off as a prick.
It's a huge misconception that Smith is a quieter. He was picking up his own teeth in the Glover fight and handing them to the ref. After Jones illegally kneed him, Smith still took Jones the distance. The version of Smith you see now is old and well past it.

He has 22 losses on his record. He was a much better fighter 5 years ago, but he is still a big time quitter. He folds like a cheap lawn chair and is a shitty human to boot. I feel no remorse for him.

Smith is the definition of a DEI hire. He's in for the long haul unfortunately

He was a gritty fighter who crossed weight divisions and stuck around for quite a while. Fought for belt and against your who's who. I feel towards the end of his career he was falling apart big time, perhaps physically and mentally

Also has analyst roles and podcasts so yeah he's a known person. I don't hate the dude hope he has a nice post fighting life. If he unretires he could face more punishment

He was also beneficiary of a few fights where the one going put wasn't all there. Evans and Gustaffson

It's not a misconception. People recognize the unique aspect of Smiffy's quitting which is that he may not literally give up, but instead gives up trying to win and just tries to survive. Hence the famous fetal position.

Although he does sometimes outright quit too, like in this latest fight.

The Smith-Jones fight was during a period of 7 decisions in 9 fights to close out Jones' LHW run. And the two guys Jones finished in that run took him to a decision in the other fights he had with him - so literally every guy in that period was capable of taking him to a decision. That includes OSP and a guy on one leg.

A guy turtling up and surviving vs him is not the achievement you make it out to be.
