Anthony Johnson has more than power

It's at least confirmed that he can put on a high pace for 3 rounds. Not quite the same as a 5 round gas tank, but it's a big improvement over the 1 round gas tank that many would say he used to have.

To be fair though, he wasn't pushed at all in that fight. He was able to fight at his own pace, basically walking Davis down. He didn't have to expend much effort at all.

Did you watch the same fight? Rumble was getting lit up and had trouble landing anything. It wasn't until Alex corner yelled out push kick in the middle of the ring till Rumble countered.

What? When in the fight did Rumble ever get lit up? The only time Gus landed clean shots is when Rumble had Gus hurt and was rushing in while they were both throwing flurries. And even then, Rumble at them and kept coming. Gus was obviously thrown off by the pressure Rumble brought. He was in complete control of the cage and had Gus backing into corners with nowhere else to go. He fought a good fight.

He's really good at stalking and cutting off the cage. It was obvious as soon as the fight started Gus was going to try and implement a lot of movement but Rumble did a great job at backing him into corners. That plus dynamite in his hands, great defensive wrestling and a solid chin make for a monster at LHW.

Bingo.

People like to act like his footwork sucks because hes not really floaty and doesnt move a lot, but its very good along the same lines that Crop Cop's was back in his prime. He is a stalker, he never gets his feet tied up and he cuts off the cage and controls the octagon really well.

He also has great head movement. Hes basically a better Rampage but with kicks too.

hmmm... he is kind of an ibarra trained rampage (but better).

Damn good comparison

What really stoof out to me in that fight is the way Rumble cut the cage off and stayed on Gus

He didn't allow Gus to get comfortable striking from a distance he cut him off and kept it a fight from within the pocket and was throwing haymakers, that same strategy could work against Jones

AJ is a huge threat to Jones in the first round and early into the second. Beyond that, I bet he will still gas.

He's not a technical marvel, but for someone who is rather wild at times, he tends to keep his feet underneath him and he cuts off space instead of just following his opposition (which is much rarer in this sport than one might think). Add to that the fact that he isn't scared of taking a shot (seemingly he has a very strong chin as I can't recall off the top of my head when he has ever been properly rocked) if it will give him a chance to answer back, has a decent punch selection along with a good kicking game, and that he has at least a basic understanding of how to set his work up on top of the fact that he is relatively fast and a scary composite puncher (fast hands to go with his power), and you have someone who can trouble anyone in MMA in the striking department. That's not to say that he doesn't run the risk of getting caught because he is hittable, but if a fight turns into war, he is generally going to like his chances.
