You just agreed with me here.
Rumble won’t be signing for 13k a fight and proving himself again.
They want the cheap, fight anywhere, anytime, any opponent guys to fight 5 times a year.
Those guys are young.
Rumble will cost 500,000 for one single fight, not 5.
Lol, no I didn't. This is nothing new, the UFC has been doing this for many many years. Not resigning certain fighters and building up talent from lower ranks and new fighters. This is nothing to do with the contender series show or a recent phenomenon. I can go back to the late 2000s, mid 2010s or a few years back and come up with many examples. You make it sound like it's something new.
And the other point is that contender series guys aren't any cheaper than other new fighters signing. They all get the same intro pay and work their way up. None of them are fighting 5 times a year. There literally is no difference between a contender series signing and getting a younger fighter from a smaller organization.
Look at some of the fighters that came from the show.
Yusef, (27) 27/27 contract and has 4 fights in the UFC, 4-0, so far just one fight in 2020 and he's ranked #10 at FW
Hardy, (32) 95/95 contract and has 7 UFC fights in 2 years, 4-2-NC fought twice in 2020
Shabazyan, (23) 60/60 contract, has 5 UFC fights in 2 years, 4-1 and fought once in 2020, #12 ranked MW
Alex Perez, (28), 100K to show last fight, title fight, 8 fights in 3 years, 6-2 record, fought 3 time this year, #4 at FW
Sean Omalley, (26) 49/49 contract, 5 fights in the UFC in nearly 3 years, 4-1, fought 3 times in 2020.
Kevin Holland, (28) 55/55 contract, 10 fights in UFC in over two years, 8-2, fought 5 times in 2020, #10 at MW
Geoff Neal (30), 31/31 contract, just singed new deal, 4 fights in UFC, 4-0, fought 0 times in 2020, #11 at WW
Many of these guys are ranked and have good fights coming up. Perez already fought for the title. Many of them have extensive pro records with 15-20 fights.
I don't see anyone who is young, fighting for cheap and many times a year. Seems like these guys are no different than any other new signings.
