Property is cheap. I got a lil spot up there
People laugh when I tell them that that was actually a popular belief at the time.
Normally I'd be upset, but it's supposed to be cold in Antarctica, so whatever.
It wasn’t. It may have been disproportionally reported on compared to global warming. But it was not a popular opinion. Certainly not among scientists.People laugh when I tell them that that was actually a popular belief at the time.

For those of you who are retarded, which is apparently many of you, the term global warming refers to the entire earth’s overall average temperature.
You know how the wind can be blowing one direction, and then it seemingly changes direction? That’s because the natural world isn’t as simple as a Warner Brothers cartoon. Things can change the direction of some of the air molecules and cause a severe draft in a different direction than the rest of the prevailing winds are blowing.
Likewise, an increasing average temperature of the entire planet will have effects on certain locales that can range from being warmer than the average temperature to colder than the average temperature. Because things are complicated and there are many factors that come into play at even a local level.
The point is that the rapid increase in the earth’s average temperature causes more variance in weather events - greater deviation from the norm. It doesn’t mean that every single place on earth is warmer at all times. If you don’t know that by now, you’d have to literally be retarded.

Yeah. And while I don’t want to sound like a dick, people’s anecdotal experiences really don’t mean much when it comes to evaluating whether or not global warming is occurring. What matters is the empirical data, which is indisputable at this point. I’m sure we could find plenty of people who live in areas where it has been getting colder for the past 10 years. Or some people who live in places where there hasn’t been any real change locally.I lived in East Asia for ten years and the winters have gotten colder while the summers have gotten hotter. At the same time in the summer, the currents from the north come down the ocean is colder. You go for a swim in a scorching hot summer day and the water is freezing. The differences have become more extreme since I the first year I've got here, and the older locals say the same thing, including conservatives who don't really care about climate change. People are noticing it.

But the data is the data. Humans have accelerated the rate of change in the earth’s climate by lumping tons (literally tons) of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Normally, this type of climate change, if it were to happen naturally, would occur over tens if not hundreds of thousands of years.
Not a good sign. Extreme weather events are going to become more common.
I'm not talking about what scientists thought/believed/knew, rather, what articles in newspapers were wondering because we had some brutal cold and snowstorms back then that I went through. People sucked up those articles, were subjected to the foul weather, and started thinking it was for real.It wasn’t. It may have been disproportionally reported on compared to global warming.
