Another Russian journalist killed.

Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko was reportedly shot and killed in Kiev on Tuesday, May 29. According to fellow journalist Ayder Muzhdabaev, he was shot in the back while at home. A source told the website Obozrevatel.com that Babchenko died before paramedics could get him to the hospital.

Ukrainian law enforcement later confirmed Babchenko's death. According to police, Babchenko's wife says she was in the bathroom when she heard what sounded like several loud claps. When she exited, she says she found her husband covered in blood. He apparently died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

According to another report, Babchenko was shot in the entryway to his apartment while coming home from the store. Ukrainianskaya Pravda says Babchenko was shot three times — all in the back. In a press statement, the Kiev police department said it believes Babchenko was killed as a reprisal for his work as a journalist.

Babchenko fought in both of Russia’s post-Soviet wars in Chechnya. After leaving the armed forces in 2000, he started working as a war correspondent for Moskovsky Komsomolets and Zabytyi Polk. He later worked with many publications, including the newspaper Novaya Gazeta. Babchenko also founded the project “Journalists Without Middlemen,” and wrote several books about his experience in the military, winning multiple literary awards.

Babchenko was a vocal critic of Russia’s intervention in eastern Ukraine, accusing Moscow of waging a war of aggression. In 2017, he left Russia and moved to Kiev, after receiving threats against his life. In Ukraine, he worked for the television network ATR.

What can i say this sucks. The journalist made a mistake by moving to Ukraine. Should have stayed in Israel where he was for a while AFAIK. He is not the first Anti-Putin "activist" to get killed in Ukraine.

What really makes me angry about this is that he was a Russian veteran, and this is what he got.

It just shows that obviously the Ukrainians didn't actually want to be part of the union. A lot of small countries in Eastern Europe took up arms with the Nazis to push back the "Red tide". Because recent president Poroshenko was a sponsor and co-founder of Party of Regions (and I think one of the problems of Ukrainian people (they mentions it) that majority of politicians is the same people, not only Yanukovich's people, but people who are in politics since 1990's). I can remember Yanukovich's win was kinda shady - before the second round of elections and after the first round pro-Yanukovich's partys passed a law that changed calculation of votes. After that they tried to pass non-constitutional law about football fans (well people called it "law about fans"). You look like a average Russian guy who reads too much Russian propaganda without bothering to check the facts.
In another thread you mentioned about Russia and Latvian schools. Does Russia sponsors Latvian schools in Russia? There was a referendum 6 years ago https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latvian_constitutional_referendum,_2012 So based on what Latvia should sponsor Russian schools?

what happened in ukraine was semi on purpose but never intended to be that bad all evidence shows that it was accidental and actually did way more damage then anyone benefit from. The split in Ukarine is really stupid but western ukrainians have some complex. It might be best for the health of everyone if country is partioned and split. I posted map above, let the Pro Russian areas and ámbivalent´ Ukraine become its own state and then western Ukraine can become its own crap state as well until it becomes on life support by the EU and then become like rumania shit country with massive brain drain of everyone to city like berlin or paris. do you forget the baltics countries intentionally took actions to strip people of citizenship and deprive them of voting rights after collapse of soviet union? I mean i dont blame them they will call them 5th column the way that israelis can rightfully see arab muslims as 5th column against the jewish majority.
