Health Another kitten in the house

It was about a month from bringing the kitties in until my adult cat would accept them. I tried to do it very gradually. First, the kitties were in their own room, and they could just smell each other through the door. After a couple of weeks, I would bring one kitten out at a time and let the big cat see and smell them for a bit. After a month, I let them all co-exist when I was home and could supervise, and then at two months I just left them all together full-time.
I have heard that it helps to introduce cats in a neutral environment so they don't get territorial. Somewhere your old cats don't normally go, like a garage, maybe. My brother introduced his cats in his car, and he said that worked really well.
A lot of my work I do from my garage and too many fiddly bits for them to choke on, the thought of them in the same car terrifies me haha.

Little girl had a good day today I think after getting there in the car. If I put my hand in the carrier like on the way back today she'll be fine for her jabs in a couple of weeks. Forgot about getting her chipped.

Thank fuck I had my girls' Rabies shots done a couple of weeks ago. Didn't think we'd be taking in a little stray before, it just had to happen.

This is Emmy fat asleep after the vet this evening, such a trooper
Cool. How was the vet? Did she had a blood analysis and all that?

After a while of fighting with one of my cats we have decided to call vets at home. It costs a shit ton of money but she does not have to deal with the stress (and neither do we).

If there were such a service I would opt for it as well.
She wet herself in the carrier on the way being first time in a car but I was expecting that. As soon as we got out of the car she was good as gold. Even fell asleep on me in between different people coming and going. No bloods done but some anti biotics which I'm in the dog house for being she's taken to me more than husband...it's like I'm Judas. I have to hold her while he puts the drops in and the mouthwash. The next 9 days of that mental health wise are going to be fucked.

The more dominant of our cats has literally shut down and stopped eating apart from Delectables tube things. I feel like such a c word, and feel so guilty. I couldn't just leave her outside looking like that in her situation but still feel beyond terrible that my other two's perfect lives have been turned upside down.

She’ll come around. It will just take a little time.
She's come all the way around since coming back from the vet. I guess maybe a trust thing that she got taken out of the house and we brought her back in. It's one of the other cats that's hit the deck since seeing her so full of confidence and a changed little girl. It's horrendous to see the girl you got from the shelter 2 years ago like this when new kitty is thriving when she wasn't till Thursday afternoon.

we have three ourselves cuffas, one that adopted my mother in law shortly before she passed last year while she was grieving the death of my father in law 6 months earlier.

a total feral cat that has been through some shit. doesn't purr at all. gound out it was originally from corpus christi and somehow found its way to Crosby Texas.

That was a rough 6 months for L :(

If Emmy hadn't been through so much with whoever fucked her eye up and which we found out as suspected an infection in both eyes I wouldn't have brought her in and would have continued to feed her outside like the other cats but she's so little and so sweet I couldn't just leave her out there.

She really is such a sweetheart, I just wish my other one didn't have to suffer so much as a result.

I think your other cats will get used to it. It is always the same story.

If anything you can give the new cat away once he is good. We do it a ton here.. it is called "in transit". You find an abandoned cat in bad conditions.. take him home, feed him, take it to the vet, vaccines, etc and all of that while looking for a new home.

Absolutely out of the question, she's had a terrible start in life as it is without getting turfed off somewhere else. I do understand your thought process but she's really happy in our home. It's incredibly cat friendly. I just hope Gunner will stop the lethargy and start eating properly again.

Started 2 on rounds of meds yesterday which she thinks I'm a Judas because she became attached to me more than husband an I'm the one who has to hold her while has a mouthwash and 2 rounds of anti biotics.

In the past 1.5 years we lost 8 family members and one of my truly close industry friends. my father is on borrowed time too now so the call will come sooner rather than later. i guess we are that age.

I feel for this cat too, she's a right mean c&nt but I know she's had a rough beginnings. she'll let me hand feed her treats but otherwise she keeps her distance from me.

Huge respect to you and anyone else here who has rescued. All the best!

I forget where your mum and dad live?

I always keep any new cat in a separate room, inaccessible to my other cat or cats.
That way they can kind of get used to the idea. I do that for two weeks. And then I slowly introduce them to one another.

It seems like, for me, I always have an older cat and then I get a kitten. Usually the kitten wants to play with the older cat, but the older cat doesn’t want anything to do with them at first.

But eventually they warm up to one another. The younger one always idolizes the older one.
