I have seen countless threads suggesting that Bisbing isn't the best middleweight, I for one generally just assume that the champ is always the best. After some thought I had to agree with the detractors, ironically the same can be said for most of the weight classes. How do we get a poll?

I ask you all this, are the champs in each division the best or are they just currently 1 in the rankings?

Can this be an actual discussion? No nonsense? Please and thank you!

HW, Miocic: Cain, Overeem, JDS and Werdum should all be the favourite

LHW, Cormier : Only Jones beats him, Cornier is legitimately great

MW, Bisbing: Weidman, Rockhold, Romero (cheater), Jacare and Kennedy should be favoured

WW, Lawler: Condit beat him, I favour Lawlerr though. Hendricks beat him but we need to see him again to judge. Rory is better but Lawler but he can't put him away. I'd say Lawler is the best but it's debatable

LW, Dos Anjos: maybe Khabib, RDA should be the favourite

FW, Vacant: Title fight is on 200

BW, Cruz: Dillashaw fighting smart and not angry wins

Fly, MM: GOAT level

BW, Tate: hard to say, because who cares lol. Seriously though, nobody there is dominant unless Rousey returns to form.

SW, JJ: you tell me

Mods, can we have a poll asking are the champs in each division the best? A simple yes or no for each division

I personally don't see Stipe, obv paper champ DC, Bisping, RDA and Tate as the best of their current division. Also if Conor does return to 145, I think Edgar beats him.

There is rarely a clearly defined 'best' barring legendary runs like GSP/Anderson/Fedor/Jones. The champ is whoever has currently put together a good streak and found themselves in the right place at the right time, but it is always possible/likely that any of the top fighters in a division could defeat any of the others.

I'd take any champ, in any weight class, except Bisping!

I wouldn't say they are all the best. Maybe not even half of them. But I pretty much just say the champ is the best today. Even if it's technically not true.

Stipe - Too early to tell. One can say that say Overeem is better but that's up for debate. Arguable.
Jones - The best
Bisping - Not
Lawler - Not, but massive fucking heart.
RDA - Arguable
Conor - Arguable
Cruz - Probably the best
MM - The best
Joanna - The best
Miesha - Not

Are the champs the "best" this is an intriguing question, and to some extent it depends on what you define as "best"

The most skilled fighter at HW is Werdum or Reem, the most strategic is Reem, the hardest hitting is Hunt and the most dominant is Cain... Stipe may be the best all around though

I believe Jon Jones exceeds all other fighters at LHW except for Rumble Johnson strictly in terms of power

At middleweight, the most skilled fighter is definitely Anderson despite his weaknesses, and is/was the most dominant Bisping, Weidman, and Rockhold are all relatively equal imo, and no one in the weight class has significant power or dominance

WW: the most skilled fighter is probably Nick Diaz, Maia or Condit, hardest hitting is definitely Lawler though

LW: The most skilled I believe is RDA however Khabib's skill-set is unique and may overtake him, the hardest hitting might be Ferguson

FW: The most skilled fighter is either Conor or Aldo, the best fighter overall might be Edgar, and the hardest hitting is Jeremy Stephens

BW: The most skilled fighters are Cruz and Dillashaw, but the hardest hitting is probably Garbrandt or Lineker

FLY: DJ

...or we could just list everyone in every division. Great job OP.

Dam foreman - "Hey boys; let's get up and at 'em"

Dam worker - "What's up boss? Seems a little early."

Dam foreman - "Don't you worry that. We're about to handle all the busy we can get. Gentlemen, PREPARE FOR THE TEARS!"

This is the correct answer. Except maybe for RDA. I think RDA has the strongest case among "the arguables," he might deserve a "probably the best."

Mods, that poll sucks. Categories please, by division

Did Conor change his name to Vacant?

RDA - Nope
Conor - Nope
Cruz -The best
MM - The best
Joanna -close
Miesha-Nope

That is one lazy-ass poll...

I don't believe they are all the best in their divisions, but they all were on the night it mattered!

Barring special circumstances of extremely dominant fighters, champs aren't the "best" as in they can beat consistently all the other fighters in their division. They are the "best" in the sense that they can beat consistently "most" of the opponents they're paired against and eventually they defeat the man who's at the top of the division.
