Anime and Manga v33

So I finished Evangelion and I have to say I rather liked it...It tried to be too deep at times and around the midway point shifted the tone quite a bit but it was enjoyable...The ending didn't really bother me and from what I understand they had budget issues...
What I don't get is how it's considered complicated....I thought it was a rather straightforward analysis of the MC, nothing groundbreaking....I might want to watch the movie to get resolution on the other plot points...

You have to consider this: a majority of the audience at the time wanted nothing but loli and perverted garbage, and Anno, the director, basically told every viewer to piss off and made the series more "realistic" by including lots of trauma and psychotic themes, being alone and the fear of being alone sitting at the top of the pile. Maybe you didn't know this but Anno worked with Miyazaki on a Ghibli film, not sure which one though. The realism may be linked by that time of work.

I enjoyed it but wasn't amazed either. It was a change from usual super shonen and stuff.

Yes it's certainly different...Watched EoE and have to admit that one is much more abstract and confusing...

It was Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. I read that Anno drew the sequences involving the resurrected God Warrior. One of the highlights of the movies I'd say.

Oh and to really nickpick, Nausicaa is not actually a Ghibli film. Might as well be though.

I read a new to me web toon the other day in pretty much one go: The Tale of Eun Aran. The artwork is goofy but grew on me. More Murim-secret-Martial-Arts world stuff going on in modern times, but with comedy and a pretty awesome main character. I also like how the story is told... Starting from the middle in some action and then going to what sets that scenario up from the beginning of the story. It's pretty cool, I like it.

37 chapters.

You're a true fanboy. I salute you, sir.

When it comes to a series I really love, I try to get as much of it as I can.

For the Ghost In The Shell 1995 film, I have the VHS, DVD, Japanese Blu ray, UK DVD, & am getting the American blu ray release that's being released later this year (about damn time too.)

What I would really love though, is the actual film reel.

Just done reading Psyren chapter 100 only 46 more to go

i seem to be unable to watch anime in japanese with english subtitles when i had no trouble doing so few years ago . it's like i can't focus on both the action AND the translation at the same time .

Genre preference?

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
Zetman

I'll add those to my watch list, thx

Genre preference?

any combination of Comedy/Action/Horror/Sci-Fi for the most part

recently I've watched Attack on Titan/Fairy Tale/Welcome to the NHK, the only one I didn't care for was Fairy Tale

some of my favorite animes include: Akira/Shin Chan/Dragon Ball/Beserk

hope that helps

Mushishi: Zoku Shou. Or if you haven't seen the first series start with that. Make sure to watch the 2 specials as well, it's all the same quality.

oh man I loved Mushishi, is Zoku Shou a continuation or something new set in the same universe?

my buddy recommended psycho pass, I'm definitely going to have to check it out

especially since it is on netflix

thanks!

I don't have that issue but I got a friend who does. He can't watch anything with subtitles. He claims it's his ADD that makes it hard for him to focus on both the text and what's happening on screen. I call bullshit on it since I have ADD and it is not an issue for me. The dude is not very smart so I just think he struggles reading.

is it a focus thing for you or do you read slow ?

i had no problem with this back when i used to watch subbed versions exclusively.

after 4 years of watching dubbed versions , i'm seemingly unable to enjoy anime in japanese .
