Media Andrei Arlovski vs Roy Nelson - Worst Ref Stand Up Ever

Well...
The worst stoppage rn is probably zuluzinho x petr romankevich.

Just watch it and u will think that standup was fair

Ok so rewatched horrble stand up not that i had doubt just needed a fresh look at it. That said Nelson could have protested more instead of just jumping right back up. Tough call in the moment i guess..

If I remember correctly, Bobby Lashley had Chad Griggs in full mount when the ref stood them up. One of the craziest calls I had seen at the time that resulted in Bobby getting hurt in the next sequence.

Gets a Kimura attempt and transitions to side control. Knees to the body. Side control for like 10 seconds. Yeah that was fucking awful. Way to shit on dominant position. I remember seeing that when it aired

Roy's BJJ was awesome in that fight. Maybe that was one of the moments he realized he needs to knock fools dead. You just can't trust these dumbass referees
He should have stuck with BJJ more tbh

As much as I love Andrei, he definitely got a gift at that moment in this fight. It did show how great Andrei's stopping power was in his days when he played a less defensive game that being said.

I don't remember the specifics but I think there was a pretty bad standup in the Story/Brenneman fight.

So Phil Baroni is fighting this job guy and after he achieves mount gets stood up in less than 15 seconds
Phil then proceeds to unplug job guys vegetable garden soon after
Then when he goes to check on Mr unconscious some jerkoff from the opposing corner head butts Phil in the face with no warning
Coleman is in Phil’s corner and maintains his composure or he could have torn the other corner limb from limb single handedly
Good times

It's worth noting how shady EliteXC was also. Remember when they offered Seth Petruzelli money to keep it standing with Kimbo? Lmao

Its terrible standup but we have seen it worse

A ref stood up Okami from side mount twice in the same round vs Alan Belcher

We always get to hear all the pansies post how racist Dana is, but I don't think he's ever disliked a fighter more than Big Country.

Yeah pretty clear bullshit reffing done in favor of the clear marketing favorite.

Not the first time it was done (not even for Arlovski) and won't be the last.

Not the worst stand-up ever though. That belongs to SEVERAL stand-ups that had no pretense of fairness whatsoever and were one of the clearest examples of a ref fixing a fight of all time: Vitor vs Rumble.

Kos-Fickett was bad.

Big John stood them up after like 10 seconds because the crowd boo'd.

Had Rumble won that fight he'd have wins over title challengers in 4 weight classes

We’re hoping in the Time Machine and going back to 2008 boys.

Have you ever seen a ref stand a fight up where there is a guy in a dominant position actively working like Roy was here? Working the arm… mixing in knees… etc. I remember it being bad, but was just rewatching and couldn’t believe how bad it was.

Shout out to BJJ Roy! Crazy how he went from this to a one trick pony KO attempt artist. If he combined the two and lost some weight, guy could’ve been real special.

I know this is in EliteXC, but both guys are best known for their UFC stints and both were “prime” in the fight, so I believe it to be relevant.

A lot of that comes from not understanding the position, and being influenced by the crowd.
Roy had him in a kimura 10 seconds before that, and that alone is grounds to let him continue sir.

Terrible stand up. But it does also take us back to when both men still remembered they were quite competent grapplers.
