Andersons' Matrix Moment

the maia fight still pisses me off.

was competitive when they were actually fighting.

anderson ran too much.

maia landed some really good shots.

You need to watch that fight again. Anderson was beating the shit out of Maia for three rounds before he got tired of Maia not engaging. Then he started fucking around, and it looked competitive when Maia was able to hit a dancing Silva.

One more punch in that combo and Vitor could have KO'ed Anderson, maybe.

If anything, Weidman fits the description of "the one" rapidly coming into his own and ascending to his potential while Anderson represents the established order as the seemingly unstoppable agent of the matrix. It's by and far the most obvious fit to that analogy, honestly, unless you're going out of your way to cast Anderson as the protagonist or the "good" guy in the conflict which is also dubious.

I just noticed how sped up that Lutter gif is, holy--

If Lutter was really throwing like that in full mount that fight may have ended up different.

gotta say, this is a pretty interesting GIF. Silva lines his feet up just like he did before getting KO'd by Weidman. Silva said he always steps one back recently, but guess he doesn't ALWAYS do it.

He stepped back twice against, and that was enough to evade Vitor's combo.

Against Weidman, he took maybe one step back but didn't move very far and stood on the tips of his toes and leaned back too far. Had he actually taken another step back, he likely could have saved himself imo.
