-1500 Silva vs. +750 Takase

Fedor, who was the best fighter in the world at the time, was on that card and -1100 over +750 Fujita......

Anderson just came off a HOOGE performance against Newton. Ppl were talking him up in the discussion for best 185lb and under fighter in MMA. This was SUPPOSED to be a showcase fight for Anderson to stomp his opponent. HOWEVER.......4-7-1 Takase had other things in mind......Namely a Maia/Magny level performance and ROSE TO DEE OCCASION.:eek:

damnnnnnn

to put it in perspective
those odds are even wider than almost every Honda/Holly line, GSP/Serra, TJ/Barao, Frankie/BJ 1 :oops:

Where did you get those odds from?

I don't remember being all that shocked at the time. True story.

We're gonna need some sauce on that lad.

Did you forget to add the sauce ?

Still a huge upset. But it was before he made it to the UFC so not as talked about.

Googled "Anderson Silva vs Daiju Takase betting odds" and nothing came up at all. Where is your source TS

If you look back at the biggest betting upsets in the mixed martial arts world, 6 of the top 8 were a result of the heavily favored fighter being knocked out. When Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou stepped into the ring against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at Pride 33, no one thought the younger, inexperienced fighter had a chance as a +1500 underdog. One thing that Sokoudjou did have was raw power and it took him only 23 seconds to knock out his Brazilian foe, en route to becoming the biggest underdog that the mixed martial arts world has ever seen. At +850, Matt Serra owns the second biggest mixed martial arts upset with his first round knockout of UFC champion Georges St. Pierre. Although Serra had never shown knockout ability before, it just goes to show you that anyone can get knocked out at any given time and you should stay away from heavily favored fighters when betting on this sport.

Even the UFC’s best fighter, Anderson “The Spider” Silva, has been a victim of a huge betting upset before. At Pride 26, the knockout artist was a victim of a submission by Daiju Takase. With a current record of 7-13-1, Takase is not an upper level fighter but he was able to pull off some magic and cash a huge +800 ticket for anyone who decided to fade the huge favorites that night.

That's what happened when Anderson didn't get saved by the bell in unified rules 5 minute rounds. A lot of people think Anderson was vastly better when he fought in the UFC but that's false. Anderson started looking great as soon as he started fighting under unified rules in Cage Rage. 5 minute rounds and a cage helped him to mitigate his weak wrestling.

Had this fight happened in the UFC, Daiju Takase would've had to work for another take down in the 2nd round, thus increasing Anderson's chance to catch him with something. But since Pride's 1st rounds were 10 minutes long he was able to get the sub in the 8th minute.

So all those years in the UFC, he didn't improve at all..? You have a point but come on.

Interesting. I'd imagine it wasn't talked about because Andy wasn't at his most successful...? I don't know.

Bisping made history tonight but lets not be quick to name it the biggest upset, not close to that but prolly top 10
