Why do people not bring up his pre ufc work? he had found success in pride and won titles in cage rage and shooto. His top 3 wins before the ufc were Jeremy Horn, Carlos Newton, and Hayato Sakurai. He gave Mach his first loss back in 2001 when he was considered one of, if not THE best p4p fighter on earth. Maybe you could dismiss the other aforementioned accolades but I don't see how beating an undeafeated p4p king doesn't get talked about. Anyways, heres the link to that fight. Andy beat him by a fairly wide margin too.

I love this KO. Newton went out sitting in his butt.

GOAT mma performer. Not the best fighter ever, but nobody had better performances in the UFC.

Pissing hot certainly didn't help the Spiders legacy. Still a legendary fighter though.

its always crazy seeing how much skinnier he was back then.

Fights outside the UFC don't count because of PEDs. That's what I was told by Sherdog.

Two reasons:

1. The way he was marketed. Zuffa promotes Zuffa alone, which is why when he was front and center promotionally-speaking many "Anderson fans" in reality were UFC-only fans. Which is why "Anderson fans" didn't care about some of his greatest accomplishments (Sakurai) if they were outside the UFC. Which is also why they displayed amazing fairweatherism and departed in droves when the new marketing/GOAT champ was declared overnight (Jones) once Anderson lost to Chris.

2. Takase/Chonan

Yeah though Sakurai win should be a pillar of anyone talking about his legacy. Second only to Hendo win IMO.

in that case, all ufc fights until a few months ago shouldn't count either right? lol

I thought his win over Lee Murray would be top 3 outside of ufc

Your are probably right, though I loath the idea that a loss can erase a win unless the loos is to the same fighter. Anderson was going to finish Mach till they decided to clean a bloody nose and run out a solid minute of time to work with.. smh.

I'm talking about the guys who were dangerous in the ring, not outside of it.

His legacy can be resumed in the fight agains Forrest.
That was one the best performances I've ever seen. Anderson at his best.
