Anderson Silva vs Dan Henderson

The fact that this is in Anderson's top 3 wins, the other being Forrest, just shows how weak his level of competition was.

Also Hendo was 2-2 in his last 4 heading into that fight.... doesn't exactly scream "amazing" either.
So Hendo wasn't elite at the time because he was 2-2? Are you really counting the Rampage loss at 205 pounds against him??? Did you even watch that fight? That was an absolutely amazing war. Amazing performance by Dan and by Rampage, who was the best fighter in the world at 205 at that time. Anybody who discredits Dan's ability in 2008 because he "lost" the war with Rampage needs to go back and watch that. Both guys' stock went up after UFC 75.

Hendo had also previously beaten Wanderlei and Vitor, two absolute monster killing machines.

Anderson has an amazing resume BTW

Textbook clueless shertard assesment from top to bottom

Maybe a physics class would help ? If they lose speed they lose power, sir.

F=MA. Thanks coach.

Perhaps a reading class would help :) see my phrasing which was "much power".

I'm close to 50. I will give you an analogy as a long time tennis player (and grappler). My serve is real close in speed to what it was when I was 35 but I'm so slow moving around the court these days. Incredibly slow. So an older fighter can generate high levels of force on that right cross but his movement is still hugely affected. I think the proof of that can be seen with Hendo. Hendo even in his later years could knock dudes dead but he was stiff as board and very slow with his feet.

No one mentioning Hendo was just 3 or 4 months out of a war with Rampage, and dominated Anderson in the first round. Kudos to Anderson for a beautiful win, though! Any win over Dan is a win over Dan.

yup i got the nuance, but it's sherdog, i take care to not be completely honest in my arguments. More seriously, i understand your idea, but i still think it's not really valid : every part of your athleticism decrepits with old days. Maybe you're right and hand eye coordination is much more affected than pure speed once the strike is launched, but i can't tell.

Your overall athleticism does decrease but not at the same rate. Foot speed, quickness, and overall agility (side to side movements, etc.) go first. Hand speed is more gradual and less pronounced. Trust me as I'm there and battling it.

One of the most underrated title fights (unification) of all time.

With Dando s actual body of work at middle, I cant call him top 3 BUT that was prime Henderson and Andy just took care of business. That version of Andy WOULD FUCKING OBLITERATE any version of the gsp..... and Georges knew it. Anderson was even willing to come down to 180 but pierre a smart man. I'll give him that.

Anderson s FINISH of Dando probably better win than ANY GSP could boast.

Sorry to go " off track " and make this andy- gsp but I'm sure some freekn ding dong probably brought up,lol, Jake Shields .

Isn't this MMA math at it's finest (i.e. worst)? GSP and Hendo are completely different fighters stylistically with completely different skillsets. Hendo was primarily Greco. GSP was primarily a free/folk style guy with his double leg. GSP learned to Jab, Hendo dropped bombs.

I like GSP and Spider and your type of pronouncements seem silly.

That vitor fight was one of the all time worst strategies I've ever seen in a fight. He just plodded forward looking down pawing out that right hand begging for an uppercut. It was seriously worse than the BJ Penn tiptoe
I remember thinking the same. Being a huge Hendo fan, that was one of the must frustrating things I've ever seen in a fight.
