Anderson speaks/understands English a lot better than he lets on.

I don't think. I've been watching a little bit of this and other interviews where he's trying to be candid and struggles to express himself.

He uses basic terms (sometimes incorrectly) and often repeats them (is normal). He also makes a lot of gestures and speaks very slow. You can tell he wants to say more but struggles to express himself.

His English has gradually gotten better though.

I have met him in person multiple times and he speaks great english. The whole act was so Ed Soares could say what he wanted as Andersons manager.
