There's never been a super fight more talked about in MMA history than the proposed showdown between former middleweight champion Anderson Silva and former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.

For several years, Silva and St-Pierre sat at the top of the mythical pound-for-pound rankings and conversations about putting them together in a bout happened throughout each of their respective UFC careers.

The fight never came together, but with St-Pierre rumored to have a renewed interest in fighting and with Silva still active in his UFC career, could that matchup finally take place?

"It could happen," Silva said about fighting St-Pierre when asked at the UFC 198 pre-fight press conference. "It would be an honor to be able to fight him. It could happen."

Silva is currently focused on Uriah Hall, who he faces at UFC 198 in his hometown of Curitiba, Brazil on May 14.

There have been rumors swirling that St-Pierre is considering a comeback to fighting, but as of yet he's made no official announcement that he intends to compete again.

St-Pierre took an undetermined break from the sport after defeating Johny Hendricks in 2013, and he hasn't fought again since then. The Canadian has never said he's actually retired, but he's also given no indication that he wants to fight again either.

There's little doubt a Silva vs. St-Pierre fight would still mean big business for the UFC, but it's unpredictable if the matchup will happen.

Urgh why do they tease us with this prospect still? Yeah, now if it did ever happen it may just be too late, both past their primes and Silva's legacy being tarnished and all. But what do you think? Would be cool to have another superfight sometime this or next year.

The dude just lost to Bisping. How would it be a superfight?

georges is looking to fight a smaller guy

Doesn't have the same allure as it would have a few years ago. But, it would sell really well. GSP against anyone sells really well.

GSP 50-45.

I'd even go as far as 50-43ish GSP

But if it ends in round 1 or 2, Silva TKO

GSP would easily take this.

And this is coming from a HUGE Anderson Silva fan.

interesting that he is looking for a smaller guy.why not someone same or heavier weight class?he is becoming more of a joke day by day.

It's good to see that Silva always still wants the biggest, toughest and most entertaining fights. Could easily just become a can crusher and get a bunch of crazy KOs over the lower ranked guys in the division but he yearns for the best fight every time. Respect.

Yeah McGregor is smaller but the hype behind him and the fan following, he wanted a good fight for the fans. Don't think winning mattered much to him.

It will take alot of Thai Viagra for Anderson to make catcheweight of 177 at 40 yo.

Why doesnt Anderson show that shogun spirit he claims to have and call out Rockhold for beating down his buddy Machida.

He didn't lose, he was robbed.

I always said gsp would win. Now though they are both past their primes and gsp has had that injury. Who knows who.takes it.

Prob Silva at this point due to being more active

I literally laughed out loud when Anderson called out Mcgregor. He is the lamest coward I've seen in awhile.

You must hang out with some awesome motherfuckers. How long til they make their UFC debut? Are they like a younger version of The Expendables & The A-Team?

I'm predicting those cool guys beat every single record Anderson Silva made, and that's a shitload of work to accomplish, but should be no problem since you see nothing but a lame coward when you look at Anderson Silva and not those other people you hang with.

What does any of that have to do with Anderson's choice of calling out a fighter THREE weight classes below him?

Context is everything.

He better start dieting now, cause we all know GSP's response to moving up in weight.

170 pound Anderson would get mauled. He would gas and run around more then usual. GSP is not moving up. Conor is not moving up. So that means Anderson has to come down to 170/155.

Which is why I put what I was responding to in your post, in bold.

It's obvious why he's willing to take those fights and asking for the fights he's asking for: money. These guys are all prize-fighters, not gladiators...You know what happens when you combine Anderson Silva money with Conor McGregor money? You make an even happier Lorenzo, Dana, and Co. I am not a fan of these hypothetical match ups against Conor and GSP, but I do see the allure they have business wise and in the Silva vs Mac fight..comedy wise. Casuals would eat all that shit up, especially with the LOADS of crazy highlight reel footage the promos would include.

So you're telling me you don't want to talk about Team Bad_K? They're my favorite MMA prospects now...Oh, you secretive motherfucker you!
