Why? His killer instinct is gone.

I've been a fan of Silva every since his destruction of Leben. He's had an amazing career and did some draw dropping things that will go down in history. The fact of the matter is Silva's head isn't in it anymore. Like I said his killer instinct is gone. He is only looking to showboat now. He's old but still physically capable of competing at a high level but unfortunately Silva has completely lost himself mentally. Putting his hands down to entice counters is one thing. Constant antics and clowning with no intention to counter even when losing is too far. Look at the difference in the gif below.

As you can see in the first two gifs Silva is 100% serious. He has his hands down BUT its clear its bait and he has every intent on countering and does immediately as soon as the opens are there. In the following gifs Silva has a completely different mentality. Not only is his clowning far beyond the normal Silva but he isn't looking to counter immediately like before. Its all for show. In the Weidman gif Weidman is soooo sloppy and open its ridiculous yet Silva never looked to capitalize. This is the same Silva we got in the Bisping fight.

It seemed the Weidman KO set him back on the serious path as he didnt clown in the rematch or in the Diaz fight but nope. Back to clown Silva he went and he almost was KOd again for it. lol I think he couldve outboxed Bisping easily yet no jabs, none of the amazing footwork he's displayed in the past, nothing. Just leaning against the fence clowning for show. I think Silva should just go ahead retire since his mind is not in the right place anymore. The submissive clowning fighter he has become is not fit for todays level of competition. He 's headed for another KO loss for sure.

no fucking way. I thought the bisping fight was fun as hell. I liked it better when Ando was (seemingly) indestructible as it made for great tension (for lack of a better word) and buzz when he fought, but I am no fan in particular. In fact I was really hoping Franklin was going to beat his ass second time around. I just hope Anderson keeps giving me fights like the Bisping fight or even better. I'm all good then.

Also, upon closer review. I think he still has that intent to counter (not always - see Bonnar fight) but does not have the speed anymore to pull it off. Just look at the Bisping fight - he tried and failed miserably a number of times, winging that right hook / overhand right on the counter.

Every fight since the Bonnar fight has been a deeper disaster for him. The dust weidman fight destroyed his mystique, the second one destroyed his leg, the Diaz fight tainted his legacy with the positive drug test and this one was just more piling on.

He has nothing to gain or prove and he seems to lose something every time he fights. He really needs to stop

lol silly. He obviously has still got great skills. Retiring now would be retarded.

He's having fun. He loves doing it. Why should he retire?

The way I saw the Bisping fight was him having fun instead of trying to guarantee victory. If he's enjoying himself, fight on. I know I loved watching him this weekend.

he's certainly not the fighter that he used to be. it's always a bummer to watch a fading athlete

It was a fun fight, but Silva's chin appears shot. I still think he could give a guy like Rockhold some trouble and at least a few minutes of a risky fight, but let's be honest that the first big shot that Rockhold landed would probably end the fight.

I mean, let's see the list of fighters with less power than Bisping with whom we could match Silva for another fun fight... uh...

I agree with this. If he still has that drive retirement would not make him happy. He might have to make a few adjustments though because his reflexes and other physical attributes are declining. He has to adapt to that if he wants to be successful.

LOL.....No intent to counter.

Jesus Christ, the lengths of stupidity many of you are willing to reach are amazing.

I don't see his chin being that big a deal yet. Yes, Bisping knocked him down, but he wasn't out. He delivered an upkick as Bisping came in. More concerning is his lack of desire. In a close fight, he chose not to really do anything for the last two minutes. That's a far cry from the old champ who managed to choke Sonnen out in round 5.

You'll find very few who agree with you. Most people want him to go down the Fedor road and not the GSP one.

I for one would have been content with him retiring after Chael II...and especially after Weidman II.

I agree, his antics are borderline disgraceful to the community, the sport and to the fighters he is facing. I would at least fine him when he pulls this shit or suspend him if he continues. The people here who condone his behavior are morons and idiots.

Because he's not the same and its not beneficial to his career. Silva needs to end his career being serious especially now since he's older. Silva is lost tho. Unless he can finds himself he should retire before he suffers another uneccesary KO loss.
