So Globo Combate's premature report on Anderson Silva replaced Jon Jones at UFC 200 turned out to be an accurate report. How did they know about it so early?
Apparently, someone in Anderson's camp leaked it to the Brazilian media.

Also, Dana White tweeted Globo was wrong, even though he knew they were right.
Does Dana care at all about his public credibility?

What's dana gonna do? ban Silva? silva made some cake off that leak.

It could've been that it wasn't officially set. Ton of things could've happened where this fight could've fallen apart.

What public credibility?

Honestly all jokes aside, Dana probably hadnt had the contract signed 100% yet, just a verbal agreement. I can only imagine how busy the dude is today

- 3 fight cards this week
- 3 weigh ins, 4 press conferences, 20 open workouts, promo vids
- #1 p4p and main event headliner pulls out to failed drug test
- 30 dudes come out of woodwork to fight cormier

And you guys are really on his ass about not confirming a fight?

You have a brain ;)

It was said that NSAC had issues approving it due to Silva being over 35 & not having recent medicals done
They had to work that out
If not Silva wasn't fighting

Dana is FoS a lot, but this was not a big deal (if you were paying attention to the story)

Dana lies even when it's more beneficial to tell the truth.

From what I read the UFC was talking to a few fighters and Silva's camp did that to force their hand.

It probably wasn't officially signed when Dana White made his statement, so he wasn't actually lying.

1. Dana reaches out to Silva about the fight, but needs him to fly in and work out a lot of details, including if they can even legally book the fight.
2. Anderson leaks the fight.
3. Dana, sure as fuck not wanting the fight announced before it's a sure thing and potentially having to cancel ANOTHER fight on UFC 200, downplays the leak.
4. Luckily, everything works out so the fight is on for real.

Not such a big deal, mang.

I assume that it wasn't a done deal at the time.
