Anders never instigated an exchange the entire fight. He was so afraid of Machida countering him that Anders instead focused on countering Machida the entire damn fight.

Literally all he did was walk Machida down, wait for Machida to throw, then Anders would unload a few punches.

I kept wondering, "when is Anders going to instigate something" and he hardly ever did. He spent the entire night countering a counter puncher.

I think Anders has a lot of talent and will make a huge spash at 185. Hopefully he will learn from this, but then again, there is nobody out there who fights like Machida.

And machida and the judges and the long flight and bad food and bad weight cut and his family and the fans but other than that nobody but himself

Alabama S&C coach should have juiced him up.

Yup. If he was even a tad bit more active he could've swayed the judges a bit . He just walked around with he' left hand cocked

It was a big opportunity to fight and beat a legendary name like machida. So sad he cant do it. Damn what an accomplishment it is having a win over the dragon in your resume

I agree, although we can make a case for Anders, he completely skipped initiating any aggression whatsoever.

That was a bad decision to some point, but Anders cannot complain about it.

I didn't watch the fight and I've no idea who Anders is....but to me if they're putting you against a home town legend in Brazil, you're being fed to the sharks. It might be a combination of too much too soon and him perhaps doubting himself as he probably knew the ufc wanted Machida to win...just my opinion

I’m More aggressive then anders when I hit the street walking flashing my chain, rocking the fitted and my Air Force ones. Yet he is in an octagon being paid to fight and I walk the street mean muggin for fun son

Boo that man

Nice avatar.

Could have won the fight if he actually pulled the trigger. He didn't, machida did.

No one to blame but himself

I think Anders may well turn out to be another "elite-football-athlete" Schaub.

Lyoto Machida is the world grand champion of split stinkers. Go look at his record and count them all up.

Being 'elusive' can sometimes mean dancing away from the action and hip-bouncing while getting little done.

He had a stint there for a few fights where he tried to remix his career, circa Weidman and Moose fights where he was more aggressive, but this result shouldn't be a surprise.

He gave old man lyoto waay too much respect. He could've gotten the finish had he pushed just a bit more.

Anyway, happy for lyoto. It was a hard fought decision for him, but a win nonetheless. Would really like him to retire now.

That fight was a perfect a perfect capstone to an entire night (minus Shevchenko) of boring ass fights.

What an awful f'ing evening of non-fights. Just. Bad.

Back in ‘09. I thought a fight between Shad, and the Dragon. Could be a very boring fight... Ala Woodley vs Wonderboy in the first fight.

I pictured Shad just trying to stay out of reach. And, Machida staying outside. Just waiting to counter strike. Their styles demanded as much.

But, it turned out to be a great fight, imo.

Machida do what he do, baby.

And Mario Yamasaki, and Sean Shelby, and the audience/fanbase, and the Just Bleed-God, and God/Evolution that created humans etc
