Does threads like this prove that lots of Conor fans aren't really fans of MMA but just wanted to suck on Conor's dong?

it's got nothing to do with that - the problem is the immorality of the people running the ufc, who are perfectly willing to run the sport into the ground with bullshit endless rematches and cm punk and conor doing whatever the hell he feels like, as long as they are making boatloads of money. the fans are just along for the ride.

I see your point, but the sword is a double edged blade. I cannot disagree with your assessment, and am certainly not defending the UFC brass. With that said however, they run a business and are in the business to generate revenues well in excess of operating expenses. They cater to the fans with what they believe will generate the best OI.

So long as the fans do not negatively impact the bottom line, we are certain to never change.

Now a days, every fighter that averages one fight a year without losing gets heavy marketing for GOAT! Posting on this site, we see that this horse-crap is getting gobbled up and spewed like never before!

I have gone on record and stated that if outrageously inactive fighters like Cain and JDS could even be ranked at all much less "hyped" that we are doomed! I pointed it out and it fell on deaf ears, that they were no better than average HW MMA fighters throughout history.

I went ALL THE WAY OUT ON THE LIMB and guaranteed if they were FORCED to fight a Ceronne like fight schedule, they would rack up multiple losses EVERY YEAR, and be considered "cans" rather than what they were considered "GOATS".

FFS, the average career of a top level MMA fighter is only like 8-10 years. At 1 fight per year (in the big leagues) they amass a total of only single digit fights!!!!!

It takes a child's mentality to give that "GOAT" consideration. At 2x per year it still does not lend to an activity level indicative of "GOAT" status consideration.

As long as the UFC feels the need to employ 600+ fighters and offer them an average of 1.4 fights per year across the board the MMA career of modern day (post 2010) is not long enough in years to ever enter into this discussion.

Aldo got caught - legit win for Conor.
Conor got whupped - legit win for Diaz.

My two cents - if they fought again, Conor would have a reasonable chance of winning, but the smart money would be on Diaz, because he is more well-rounded, more experienced, and yes, he's bigger.

That's very nice. But I wish Nate had buried about 6-8 more of those left hands into the side of that head before he secured that choke. Or maybe just keep pounding until the ref stops it.
