There was been one or two threads praising MM for his awesome performances and celebrating the guy, but I figured that is honestly not enough since in a night filled with standout performances he had one of the two most impressive performances of the night and yet he has been ignored due to guys who got many times more attention despite not having fought as well as he did last night.

I think MM has got it all as far as an MMA fighter goes. He is making truly scary improvements in every fight and has been able to make these improvements after every single fight for the last several years straight in every aspect of MMA. I can only think of at most a tiny handful of fighters who have been able to for several fights improve that much after each and every single fight in every aspect of MMA. His speed is just horrifying, his ability to pick opponents apart from any position has probably given many of his opponents nightmares, he's among the best in the business when it comes to MMA wrestling and that is just when it comes to his fighting prowess. As I said before, the second Benavidez fight should have silenced any naysayers forever. Dominick Cruz is the only other MMA fighter to beat Benavidez ever. And while they both did it twice, Cruz won the rematch by using an elusive point fighting style and winning by the skin of his teeth. In MM's rematch, he went in there and banged it out with Benavidez; every other MMA fighter who has tried to do that has been on the receiving end of a highlight reel finish. MM said to hell with that and got a highlight reel finish of his own; no other fighter has come close to doing that. Then he outclassed a truly badass guy in Ali Baugatinov and made Carasio look like some local fighter working part time at a greasy spoon who was brought in off the street.

And then there is the fact that he has a genuinely likable, regular guy type personality and has shown the fighting prowess of Jones, Rousey, McGregor and others without having any of their grating, overly aggressive attitudes or need to maintain a psychotic image. And then, to top that off, he has been somehow able to train and prepare himself in such a way that he has stayed in fighting shape longer than any other UFC title holder thus far; he has fought at least twice a year and usually three times a year since 2007. He has yet to let down any of the fans who anticipate him defending his title or showing up to a major fight. He is the sole male champ that when the UFC says he is gonna fight, by God you know he is gonna show up to fucking fight.

So here is the official MM appreciation thread for anyone who is interested.

Edit: I corrected it so it said official Mighty Mouse appreciation thread, now hopefully it is more clear.

So were there any fans who watched that fight and became new fans of MM?

how could you possibly guage that, considering that you don't usually see every aspect of someone's game in multiple consecutive fights?

McGregor has looked improved in every fight thus far in the UFC, but because you haven't seen his ground game in every fight, you can't judge the improvements he's made in that department. Hendricks striking improved significantly from the time he entered the UFC until his fight with GSP, but once again we can't judge the improvements in the rest of his game. I'm sure this is true of a great many fighters.

stupid statement, TS

I am very impressed with MM, though.

Those follow up punches on Benavidez when he was clearly out was brutal. MM has been really fun to watch for most of his title defenses (Bagautinov was a bit boring imo). MM v. Dodson was one of the best title matches I've seen

He's a great fighter. Being a pleasant guy doesn't seem to get you many fans though. I can do it too, I enjoyed Cruz's alpha fail comment.

MM is just a professional who (more often than not) has exciting fights. His KTFO of Benavidez was brutal. Finished 3 of his last 4 title defenses, that compares with pretty much anyone.

Big fan here - who cares about the personality he he awesome to watch.

MM is awesome, he just is in the smallest div and mma fans have a big man complex or something. he doesnt have a big personality and he doesnt have a big rival to help build his name.

He doesnt have a Nick Diaz to fight or an Anderson Silva to fight to help build his name up.

He just quietly does his thing and goes out and cleans out the div.

Excellence of COURSE!!!!

MM is pretty awesome, he's reign is gonig to be long.

I'm a huge fan!

I enjoy his fights whether they go to decision or he gets the finish. He's an amazing fighter and seems like a great guy.

War Mighty Mouse!

He's a machine. No weaknesses. He's going to end up having to fight Cruz again or Faber or Barao etc. to get a big payday, because there just aren't enough challenges for him at his own weightclass.

I honestly believe that DJ is one of the P4P best. He outclasses his division the way Rousey does. I really hope the UFC find him some new, quality opponents and get the damn hype machine behind this guy!

One of the easiest fighters to be a fan of. You never have to worry about him shitting the bed like Overeem or some other flawed fighter.

Little aside... Maynard Keenan is a Mighty Mouse fan.

Awesome recognizes awesome.
