An HW hasn't been this overhyped since Travis Browne in 2014 (Ngannou)

Remember all that nu breed the hawaiian giant is coming a level athlete invasion blah blah. Just cause the UFC promotion machine got behind Travis and he got some illegal KOs and lucky against Overeem.

Then he got absolutely clowned by Werdum and it was all downhill from there (he should have been DQed for eye gouging against Mitrione).

Browne used to play basketball, sure enough he's a decent athlete, fast and agile. He had a good backstory for promotion. Ngannou is also a talented natural athlete with an engaging and relevant backstory. But if you look behind the hype whom has he actually beaten? His only big win is Overeem, who came in with the fight IQ of a blindfolded heavy bag. Arlovski was coming off 2 (T)KOs and the 1st sub of his career losses when he fought Ngannou.

It's all hype. Ooh Africa ooh homeless rags to riches ooh 265 low body fat wow such athlete so explosive etc. etc.

I have nothing against Ngannou but Stipe is going to totally outclass him. One-sided, safe, easy win for him almost certainly inside the distance and Ngannou starts picking up Ls and dropping down the rankings and his hype train gets quietly forgotten.

Where is his technical striking where are his high level BJJ credentials? Where is his wrestling? Where is he anywhere near Stipe in skills or experience? Nowhere. It's all sound and light and hype + the easiest path to a TS for a long time.

All the passengers on Predator's hype train last stop before the crash, get off now or take the consequences.

Both KOed a cocky Overeem as well

Just one looked much better doing it and didnt get brutally destroyed in the process

"An HW" sounds weird.

Proper usage actually, since when you sound out the letters it starts with a vowel sound.

The one that messes with my mind is "a AAA tow truck," it's done that way because AAA is generally spoken of as "Triple A."

Beat me to it

You’re right. Pretty weird to see in print tho.

Francis is legit, if you've followed him you'd know that. Is he good enough to beat prime Stipe, that's up for debate. Reem couldn't survive 1 min standing with Francis.....if that doesn't make him legit idk what does.

Chael knew it, let's find out what he thinks of Ngannou

I disagree about it being all hype, and wary of predicting future performance solely on the basis of past opponents, but your post is too masterful to stop me from liking it.

You sound so confident that Ngannou is all hype and Stipe would wreck him...

Since Stipe is the betting underdog, how much money are you betting on Stipe?

Or are you just all talk? Lol

Well, then the UFC should do everything in their power to keep Ronda away from the other heavyweights.

Before she was with Browne, she dated Schaub. PROOF.

The Browne hype started when he KOd Struve senseless with a superman punch...Browne had been pretty unimpressive before that, ackwardly throwing massive rights like it was a baseball and ending up fighting to a draw with Cheik Kongo of all fucking people. Browne never was even close to creating the same hype as Ngannou. Ngannou ran through everybody they put in front of him in the UFC so far. Does that include a couple cans? Of course! But that's 80% of the HW division anyway. So all HWs, at some point, unless they're already known as successful HWs when they get signed, get their hype from fighting a couple cans first. Hell! Look at Stipe's record...The Ngannou hype is justified. The guy is a monster
