Anyone listen to the JRE fight companion during this fight?

Rather than pulling normal guard and appearing submissive to the judges Knight pulled RUBBER guard and Rogan, Eddie and Schaub seem to think this can be interpreted as aggression or octagon control to win Knight the fight.

Obvious biases aside, does anyone agree? I cant see the connection here, Knight looked submissive and I thought he made it piss easy to lose the decision by pulling guard constantly

All I know is, Knight should have kept punching after the knockdowns instead of going for the sub.

You're correct, it was piss poor fight IQ from Knight as usual. He robbed himself of a possible victory by pulling guard, it's the exact opposite of what the so called "experts" (Joe, Edie. and blubber mouth) think. What Knight was doing with the rubber guard was called stalling, meaning he was doing nothing and losing. He damn sure wasn't controlling the fight from that position.

PS, too much weed can make people see stuff totally stupid sometimes. Schaub however doesn't need any weed to think that way.

I feel so bad for Knight.

He nearly killed Caceres on FOX. I thought we were looking at a future champ that's why he was purposely put on national TV. Then after a flash KO from Lamas, he seems to loss a lot of confidence. He even loss to a bum in Mexico. After yesterday's performance, he might want to find a new career. The kid just doesn't look the same. It's such a tragedy. Reminds me in a way of Josh Grispi.

Rubber guard is cool but when you get it, time to let the elbows fly. Knight didn't. It was very frustrating

rubber guard sucks and anyone using that shit should be losing the fight by doing so

I think he'll turn it around. I dunno if he needs to hit the drawing board so just get some confidence back, but he's too tough and young to fade out this quickly. Plus, southern people are very stubborn

If active guard while throwing your legs up doesn't count then rubber guard definitely doesn't either. You can lock a guy down and not be looking for anything in rubber.

I do think those who work for submission, especially when the opponent has to struggle and defend, should count as aggression and effective grappling.

Hoped for more aggression from the bottom from knight maybe elbows with the right arm or something.

Makwan did a fitch 4.0 stall for the entire 3rd round. Fight should have been stood up more than once.

Goddard really shit the bed on that one.

But after rewatching it, 2nd round was fairly even could have went either way, but knight should have been more active off his back 3rd round. He shouldn't have counted on the ref to make the correct decision

I dunno but I did think it was funny af when he kept saying "you got a weak chin boy" to Amirikani

The way Knight used the rubbed guard in that fight was no different from how a lot of guys with no ground game used to just attempt to bear hug the guy on top and hope for a stand up.

No I did not think that at all.

I thought, what the hell are you doing Knight? Basically flopping and pulling rubber guard just to try and get the ref to stand it up? I thought maybe he hurt his leg in the fight or something so he was trying to avoid damage.

Either way, very disappointing 2 & 3rd round from Knight.

Goddard really shit the bed on that one.

Amirkhani: Does literally nothing on top*

Knight: Complains for stand up*

Goddard: "You have to stand up yourself m8!!!!1!!!1!!"

Goddard 2 seconds later: "STOP! Stand UP!"

There is simply no way Knight didn't grow up in a trailer park... I just can't see it.

I love his toughness and southern-fried trash talking, though.

Didn't Eddie say he started doing rubber guard because it was a better guard for mma as it prevents top postion players from hauling off andon your face?

Are you telling me these potheads want to be scored (as offense!) for an OTF strategizing microtrip while in a defensive stall position?
