The US is falling off in many sports. It's lost most of its relevance in HW boxing and a lot in the UFC/MMA. It's also become weak in tennis, and China is breathing down its neck in the Olympics. Apparently European teams are even taking the US out in basketball and ice hockey sometimes now. Actually I think the US even lost at American Football to Japan last year. Idk a lot about most of those sports. But it seems the US is declining at sport, as in other ways. In fact it's even getting bullied in golf and baseball now.

With that being said, it has really improved at football over the last few years, and is a legit decent team nowadays. Rugby and cricket are also improving fast, but there's a lot more catching-up to do there, so the US probably won't become a serious player there for a while yet.

Does it even matter? USA is the only location where they host events and they DONT have to pander to the local demographic to sell an event.
