Biden didn't have to race to do shit. What a stupid statement.
You can try to rewrite history, but honest people are going to think you're either an idiot or a straight liar... maybe both. Here is what Democrats thought.
- Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) As chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee at the time, he called the plan "flawed" and was disappointed that the administration "clearly did not accurately assess the implications of a rapid U.S. withdrawal". He vowed to hold hearings on the matter.
- Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) A Marine veteran who served in Iraq, Moulton was an early and vocal critic, calling the unfolding events a "disaster" that could have been avoided. He argued that the U.S. had a moral obligation to evacuate its Afghan allies immediately and criticized the administration for not moving more quickly.
- Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) A member of the Senate Armed Services and Foreign Relations committees, Shaheen expressed that the "dire conditions on the ground persist" and called for swift action to protect vulnerable Afghan civilians, especially women leaders.
- Rep. Jim Langevin (D-R.I.) A senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, he wrote an op-ed titled, "I'm a Democrat Who Opposed the Withdrawal. This Catastrophe Is Why," highlighting his strong disagreement with the decision and its execution.
- Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) A combat veteran and member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, he stated the "rapidly deteriorating situation" revealed a "failure to prepare for a scenario where the Afghan government and military would refuse to fight the Taliban's advances".
- Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-N.J.) He criticized White House talking points that conflicted with the reality on the ground, lamenting the lack of preparedness for a swift collapse.
