I think in a way this is congruent with the Zeitgeist in America of the last 15 years or so. It has been all about making women more masculine and men more feminine. I find that it‘s only natural that american men step away from combat sports while american women step in.I’m with USA!USA! (For his point not because I’m cheering on America). You only looked at the 1 list.
P4P American women
3 Kayla Harrison
5 Juliana Pena
8 Erin Blanchfield
10 Raquel Pennington
11 Tatiana Suarez
12 Rose Namajunas
14 Macy Barber
7 of the top 15. Half.
Yes I know you have already said you’re sexist and don’t count the women. But just because you don’t like watching them doesn’t make them not there. Probably the reason that there are so many Americans women in the top 15 is because women are actually treated as equals there.
Men haven't stepped away from combat sports at all? More American men compete in MMA now than before, and American men are still elite, as clearly shown by the TS example.I think in a way this is congruent with the Zeitgeist in America of the last 15 years or so. BTW I am a huge Kayla fan.
That's why they created the BMF belt and why the BMF will always be fights between americans. On the UFC rankings page which sucks, yeah, I know, but where my homies at?
P4P (which is dumb, but) :
You have to get to Holloway at 12 to find the first American.
What about the relevant divisions?
135:
You have to get to Cory at 4 to find the first American and he's about to get crushed by Merab.
145:
You have to get to Aljo at 5 to find the first American, but there's not much of a chance for him against the top guys.
155:
You have to get to Max at 3 to find the first American, but there's not much of a chance for him against the top guys.
170:
You have to get to Brady at 2 to find the first American. At least he's got a decent shot for a strap.
185:
You have to get to Strickland at 3 to find the first American and of course Khamzat will absolutely manhandle him.
205:
Clowntree at 4. Just LOL.
HW:
Blaydes at 4 and Lewis 8, who at least has a shot to beat anyone, although unlikely.
Not sure Donnie and Dana have thought the birthday card thing through. Picture Americans losing every fight they're in. Happy 250th... Yikes!
Well I am not sure that men wrestling is well ahead of women wrestling. Most American medals in wrestling in the last olympics came from women wrestling. Was it always like that? I don‘t think so.Men haven't stepped away from combat sports at all? More American men compete in MMA now than before, and American men are still elite, as clearly shown by the TS example.
Thats not to mention that boxing, BJJ, wrestling etc still have American men at the top, well ahead of American women.
Imagine how drastically that number would change if they signed 4x Russians to the roster to match the amount of Americans on the ufc roster. There absolutely would be no American "supremacy ".This. What is the OP smoking? If anything, this shows American supremacy.
Using the methodology the TS used, it actually wouldnt change much. He's literally just placing the highest ranking guy. There aren't enough elite Russians to push down the highest ranking American guys in every division.Imagine how drastically that number would change if they signed 4x Russians to the roster to match the amount if Americans on the ufc roster. How do you know there isn't when there's literally 1/4th the Russians than there are Americans and that's solely because it's a murican company. Plenty of these muricans would be crushed by regional Russian fightersUsing the methodology the TS used, it actually wouldnt change much. He's literally just placing the highest ranking guy. There aren't enough elite Russians to push down the highest ranking American guys in every division.
Guys like Sandhagen or O'Malley or whatever would still be high ranked even if they brought in a ton of Russians, and 135 would be one of the ones that would be flooded with Russians. Are there a ton of Russians that would destroy Sterling? Not at at all. A bunch that would beat Max Holloway's ass outside the UFC? Maybe one at best. 170 is rich with some great Russian fighters in the PFL so they could probably push Belal from the #1 spot, but still would be well within the top 5. The heavy classes would not really be dented outside of Vadim Nemkov who already fights at a weightclass that has a bunch of high ranking members (Blaydes is already behind two Russians).
Now, the methodology the TS used is very poor, but so is the premise that American MMA is weak. Threads about American MMA are almost always about USA vs The Field not USA vs Another Country. These threads also rarely say anything about American MMA culture in general (other then some weird implication that Americans are weak or something), as a significant amount of foreign fighters train in the United States despite the high cost of living and unfriendly visa which obviously means American MMA is top tier.
So WTF was OP talking about when they wrote:
“Not sure Donnie and Dana have thought the birthday card thing through. Picture Americans losing every fight they're in. Happy 250th... Yikes!” because that’s rather confusing.
imagine a D level unmotivated version of jones(a wild dominick reyes appears)
Nah. Only if you moved here as a child. I'll count Usman as an American fighter because he moved here at 8 years old. Otherwise it was that other country that forged a tough kid and made him into a badass.I think if you live and train in America, you should count on our side.
the fact that American girls are much higher ranked than American men speaks volumes
also, take a look at boxing rankings to get an even bigger shock, Americans cant fight.
