American Fighters Today: WTF

Who fuckin cares??

MMA is about who is the best and how cool their fighting style is.

I cant think of an american i'd root over Jean Silva. Who gives a fuck?

When Anderson got his ass beat by Chris Weidman, most americans shit talked Weidman and said he got 2 flukes.

A bit late to have your made up patriotism now.

the fact that American girls are much higher ranked than American men speaks volumes

also, take a look at boxing rankings to get an even bigger shock, Americans cant fight.
Bud Crawford and Tank Davis.

Jake Paul doing well in his promotion.

On the UFC rankings page which sucks, yeah, I know, but where my homies at?

P4P (which is dumb, but) :
You have to get to Holloway at 12 to find the first American.

What about the relevant divisions?

135:
You have to get to Cory at 4 to find the first American and he's about to get crushed by Merab.

145:
You have to get to Aljo at 5 to find the first American, but there's not much of a chance for him against the top guys.

155:
You have to get to Max at 3 to find the first American, but there's not much of a chance for him against the top guys.

170:
You have to get to Brady at 2 to find the first American. At least he's got a decent shot for a strap.

185:
You have to get to Strickland at 3 to find the first American and of course Khamzat will absolutely manhandle him.

205:
Clowntree at 4. Just LOL.

HW:
Blaydes at 4 and Lewis 8, who at least has a shot to beat anyone, although unlikely.

Not sure Donnie and Dana have thought the birthday card thing through. Picture Americans losing every fight they're in. Happy 250th... Yikes!

So you confirmed the US has at least 1 person in the top 5 in every weight class?

USA has < 5% of the world's population
We occupy at least 20% of top 5 positions.

Thus we are over achieving our expected representation by roughly 400% (minimum)

Basic math <Y2JSmirk>

Utilize the Traditional American Solution: Just naturalize the non-American champs. Presto! Plenty o' Americans at the top of the divisions.

20 years ago? fuck no it wasnt. It was a struggle to find 30 guys in a weight class who came across like actual full time serious pro athletes in those days. Its a totally different game now.
You are changing the point from the original of not having an international presence. 20 years ago was the middle of PRIDE. In Brazil there was Vale Tudo (the sport started there). The 1990s and early-2000s, there were several orgs in Russia. 2002-2006 UFC sucked, but go watch the PRIDE Grand Prix event in 2005 or 2006.

Zackly! Thanks for illustrating the point.

You have to be into the whole girly fighting thing which in reality, beyond a few weirdos here, noone cares about, except that it goes away.
@payton hes insulting you

My original post..

Its a global sport now, wasnt back in the days of Chuck and Randy.

I never said it didnt have an international presence, I said it wasnt global, especially in terms of serious participation. Like 80% of serious fighters in the sport back then came from Brazil, America and Japan. Theres currently UFC champs from 8 different nationalities.

Ok fair enough, seems a little like splitting hairs, but I would also throw Russia in that list and you might be like 85-90%. Interesting enough, I bet the UFC from 1993-1996 was more international than in 1999-2001.
