We don't have the technology to stop global warming right now. So, Europe is blowing all of its anti-global warming capital and will to do anything about global warming on inferior technologies. 10 years from now, they'll have a huge grid of stuff like windmills and electric cars to maintain while the US will have made relatively few such investments.

And then when the real technology is actually available, we'll be able to invest in it and replace our infrastructure with it instead of having to service 10 year old but obsolete technologies.

Everyone thinks that the US is being stupid on global warming. We're not. You are. We're just smart enough to recognize that we can't do anything about it yet. So, blowing all of our willingness to do anything about it is premature right now and counterproductive, both for economics and for global warming.

However, I would want to hear from the engineers who actually design the vehicles about how realistic the standards are, before really making that determination.


That being said, I rock a 70’ cutlass, so I don’t have a whole lot of room to criticize fuel standards. I think I get 3 blocks a gallon...

This is why you can't sell us cars abroad, and why European cars are taking more of the US market. Every year, how that is helping maga is a mystery, apart from making oilman richer at your expense

You have that last part completely wrong.

The lower standards put less financial pressure on the car companies, which in turn makes cars more affordable, therefore making them easier to obtain for the consumer, which help MAGA.

The oil man gets richer regardless.


Fwiw, European cars are definitely the minority in my neck of the woods. Mostly Honda’s and the wannabes. I roll by them all in my pimp mobile.
