News Amanda Nunes Officially Removed From Roster

yeah that 2nd fight was controversial. couldve gone either way. but she still does have 1 clear cut victory over Valentina.
2 fight win streak is not much but it was preceded by a 12 fight win streak. so she was 14-1 in her last 15 fights, with 12 of those being title fights.
dont see any woman doing that any time soon
I was saying that to counter the Shev loss. I agree though. No one has seemed able to capitalize on their glaring weaknesses. It'll probably be a long time until the division is good enough to see that level of dominance again. Right now everyone just feels so one dimensional. It reminds me a lot of the TUF 1 era.

Erin Blanchfield seems to have potential. Wouldnt be surprised if she gets the belt and holds onto it for a few years.

Does that mean she is free to rematch Cyborg in Bellator? Usually when someone is removed from roster it means they were cut, but she retired.
Anyone know if CCC was removed from roster when he retired?

does anyone really care? UFC should use this moment to consolidate WMMA weight classes into one and start hiring the hot chicks at cardio kickboxing night.

Val fought some of the best BWs but Amanda beat all of them. and also beat Cyborg, by knocking her out. FW was a wasteland following that but it wasn't supposed to be. UFC even devoted an Ultimate Fighter season to women's FW but theyve really fumbled the ball handling that division. None of that is Nunes' fault and cannot be held against her.
Val also clear cut lost to Amanda once and has a case for winning the 2nd fight, but officially it shows as a loss. She's got a case for #2 woman all time in the UFC but the #1 goes to Nunes.
Val lost to Grasso, Carmouche (she avenged a fluke eye cut) and Amanda.
Amanda lost to Ana Maria (Insert Who do Fook is that gif), Alexis Davis, Sarah D'Alelio, Cat Zingano & Pena

Amanda has 28 fights with 5 losses. She was finished cleanly 4 times and lost one Unanimous Decision loss. Val has 27 fights with only 4 losses and one of them was a fluke cut that she avenged and 2 were to Amanda (Although the SD was arguable). Amanda is 100% WMMA BW GOAT but her level of accomplishment is greatly exaggerated by the UFC hype machine. Amanda being significantly bigger then Schev is the only reason she won head to head. Literally the test case for P4P. I believe head to head Schev should have won but I haven't rewatched the fight in a long time if ever. P4P Schev > Amanda IMO.

When she retired I said I can’t imagine anyone catching her in my lifetime (I’m old). But in thinking about it later there is one girl that could possibly do it simply because she is very good and still really young. If Erin can win a belt in her next cpl of fights in either 125, or 135. She could rule for the next 10+ years POSSIBLY. Erin could get two belts as well. She has a bright future if she can stay healthy and motivated to get better for every fight.

It’ll be fun to see what Erin can do I think.

Probably not, I imagine her contract is probably frozen.

There is no reference to women's featherweight anywhere on the website

That is not true, there are still a handful of women's featherweights on the roster. But in terms of rankings there was never a rankings list, it was just Nunes as champion.

The UFC roster watch Twitter bot is actually based on when the fighter is removed from the UFC fan rankings pool. Nunes was removed as she's no longer an active fighter.

I guarantee she would 100% not be allowed to fight in Bellator right now. If she unretired she would still be a UFC fighter.

Weili is probably the only champ that can put on a decent run and be the face of WMMA right now. Shevchenko looks like she lost a step and her motivation. It'll be sort of interesting. Whenever Silva, GSP, or Jones left their divisions their belts were hot potatoes afterwards with new contenders until someone dominant came along.

We'll see, Erins striking has a long way to go. Her ground game is legit but her takedowns and striking will need to improve alot.
