News Amanda Nunes Officially Removed From Roster

That was fast. Anyone know if she withdrew from the USADA test pool as well. I really thought the retirement was just hype for the Pena trilogy.

i dont think we'll see another like her for a very, very long time. end of an era. Valentina is the next closest thing to as dominant as Amanda was and she just lost. if she regains her title then defends it a few more times she's established a good legacy but its not near Amanda's. i dont see any current lady in the UFC able to match her achievements.
grats to the GOAT, she can ride off into the sunset.

what will the future of no womens Featherweight look like? are they gonna put in an Atomweight division for women (unlikely)? time will tell.

To be fair, Nunes was on a two fight win streak when she retired and many felt that she lost to Shev anyway.

yeah that 2nd fight was controversial. couldve gone either way. but she still does have 1 clear cut victory over Valentina.
2 fight win streak is not much but it was preceded by a 12 fight win streak. so she was 14-1 in her last 15 fights, with 12 of those being title fights.
dont see any woman doing that any time soon
 
what's next? my guess is a continuous game of hot potato with the belt. Nobody strikes me as a dominant force in woman's 135

Schevchenko has 15 fights in the UFC. She is a FlyWeight who moved up to BW. She won 9 Fights in a row at FlyW and 8 were title fights. She has 7 consecutive defenses (Amanda does not have that). She lost a SD to Amanda which I felt she should have won and with all these claims Volk won vs Islam even if he lost by being so close Schev should get more credit for her two fights vs Amanda. She also dominantly finished the woman who took Amanda's BW belt. Schev fought a weight class above and fought some of the best BWs. Amanda moved up and beat the best FW and then a few soccer moms at FW.

Val fought some of the best BWs but Amanda beat all of them. and also beat Cyborg, by knocking her out. FW was a wasteland following that but it wasn't supposed to be. UFC even devoted an Ultimate Fighter season to women's FW but theyve really fumbled the ball handling that division. None of that is Nunes' fault and cannot be held against her.
Val also clear cut lost to Amanda once and has a case for winning the 2nd fight, but officially it shows as a loss. She's got a case for #2 woman all time in the UFC but the #1 goes to Nunes.
