Amanda Nunes' legacy is looking better than ever

Why do you have to be insulting about it? I just wrote a 100% fact considering legacies were being compared.
how is "she wasn't the same level of fighter" a fact? that is literally your opinion/assumption. for all we know, cat beat the best amanda nunes ever that night. i'm being insulting because it's annoying and delusional.

WMMA is just so bad. They should just make one division. This shit is trash.

Nunes losing to Cat and Pena she visibly gassed. It certainly looked like she did it to herself. I mean full credit to Cat and Pena for surviving the storm and beating her. It’s just easily correctable and 9/10 times I would expect Amanda to win prepared or with adjustments.

Amanda has an insane resume and her loses are obviously fights she would win over and over again. Shev was really the only one that I believed could get her on her best day.

Valentina is past her prime. I think Alexa beats her again in their trilogy.
I was hoping Alexa would fight Manon/Erin and Shevchenko would fight the other girl. Instant trilogies are nonsense. I’m glad Pena pulled out against Amanda. We got to see Aldana instead. If Amanda had ducked Shevchenko, or retired without fighting Aldana. Her detractors would have talked shit for decades.

I miss Amanda, but she retired in the perfect way. It was pretty much the most badass thing I’ve ever seen. Two belts, and her gloves lying in the middle of the octagon in Canada.

Shevchenko has been on borrowed time since Santos. I think Alexa will beat her again, as well.

She really is the women’s mma goat , and it’s undeniable, I wish cyborg got a rematch but such is life

The steroid can crusher?
That will always be the asterisk over her legacy. We KNOW Cyborg used peds. She fought a lot of smaller, and inferior fighters, too.

Amanda KOing Cyborg is right up there with Holly kicking Ronda in the neck. Or Amanda beating Ronda herself. Iconic moments, and memories from the WUFC.

Nunes deserves a look when talking about GOAT, regardless of gender. When she decided to stand and trade with Cyborg, and KTFO the scariest woman fighter ever, I was impressed and convinced she was the greatest woman fighter ever, and in the conversation of GOAT. I miss her, and WMMA misses her.

Same here. What an incredible fighter she was. It was always so much fun watching her fight. People took her for granted in WMMA and were nitpicky about her cardio or her overly aggressive fighting style, but now it is aging extremely well in terms of how she dominated everyone while being exciting and entertaining.

I also hope like Khabib, she does not come back as she has been hinting at not being out of the question. She left a great legacy and she should leave it as it is.

No there isn't. Not her fault but she fought in a talentless division and when she fought the best bantamweight in the world she lost.

Oh sure, and Nunes fought so many killers. Her best wins (not counting Cyborg) are a unanimous and a split decision against Shevchenko, someone two weight classes below her.

Anyway, Cyborg got caught and there absolutely should have been a rematch. If we didn't have rematches for flukey finishes, people today would still be talking about how Serra was just a bad matchup for GSP and how JDS had Cain's number.

yeah one of the all-time baffling performances. that win is what keeps rousey as an all time great imo
Zingano went in with no respect, she had never grappled with someone of that level before in her life. Her camp probably did her no favors.

Lol when you start off by lying that Shevchenko is 2 weight classes below her you don't have a good argument.

Cyborg, Shevchenko, Ronda, Tate, GDR, Budd. Who did Cyborg beat? Her best win is probably Budd who isn't even Nunes fifth best win.

The Tate wins look pretty good in hindsight also, especially given the fact that Tate immediately beat the person who beat Rousey herself. I think that sort of solidified the fact that Holm was mostly just a really bad stylistic matchup for Rousey rather than the division necessarily passing her by.

Nunes struggles to make 135. Shevchenko doesn't even cut weight to make 135. To me, that says Nunes is a natural 145 and Shevchenko is a natural 125. If you want actual numbers, Nunes was 156 in the cage against Cyborg, while Shevchenko was 133 in the cage for the second Nunes fight (or more accurately, she weighed in at 133.5 for that fight after not cutting weight). Here's a post I made some time ago with my sources: https://forums.sherdog.com/threads/...-who-really-won.4292548/page-2#post-171182517

Cyborg, Shevchenko, Ronda, Tate, GDR, Budd. Who did Cyborg beat? Her best win is probably Budd who isn't even Nunes fifth best win.

Nine of Cyborg's last ten wins were in title fights, so it's safe to say she's been continually facing the best the division has to offer. As for Nunes's wins, the best one on that list (beyond Shevchenko who I already mentioned and qualified) is GDR. Cyborg was a fluke, Ronda was a punching bag, Tate was starting a 2-4 streak, and Budd was on her second MMA fight ever.

Neither of them have great resumes, I know. That's the state of womens' 135 and 145. But besides her first fight, Cyborg has only one loss in almost 20 years, with 16 title wins. Nunes has five losses in that time, with 11 title wins. To me, that makes Cyborg better. You don't become the GOAT simply by having a win over the GOAT; otherwise we'd be talking about how Pena and Zingano and Davis and all Nunes's other losses are the best ever - when they're obviously not. Your resume is what matters, and Cyborg's is better than Nunes's.

Zingano went in with no respect, she had never grappled with someone of that level before in her life. Her camp probably did her no favors.

I believe she said afterward, "I wouldn't have done that if I had known she was going to go for the armbar."

Um, Cat? What did you think she was going to do?

You insulted me on the basis of a nonsensical argument. According to your definitely fighters especiallt champions from beginning to the end, never learn and become better to reach the peak. Everyone in a profession evolves and with more training and better coaching, experience, training and mentoring, evolves and gets to his or her peak. Anyone who plays the fights from 10 years apart, see same fighter fighting completely differently due to evolution (whether in a good way or bad way). I am professional senior Engineer of 20+ years and mentor juniors and no one knows this better than me. She moved from Brazil just shortly before that fight and had not even joined ATT at the time.

Amanda when she was young and inexperienced, fought completely differently than she did when she was 33 - 34 years of age when she retired. Even in that fight, she dominated Zingano until she simply gassed herself out and had nothing left. Zingano herself on JRE said, she has been dealing with CTE since the Nunes fight. That is a cardio issue she fixed after extensive cardio training over the years. Nunes is carrier is defined by how she cleaned out everyone she fought. Not just a single data point. By the same token, Amanda beat every single person who beat Cat Zingano. If you are going to use MMA math and go A = B = C then Amanda destroyed everyone who beat Zingano. She lost to Megan Anderson, for crying out loud who was beaten by Nunes like a deer caught in headlights. If she had truly been great, she would have won some big fights after the Nunes fight, but she fizzled out and no one cares about her. That is just the truth as much as you will get riled up.
