Am I the only one that thinks "Conor gate" is not about promo duties?

Just doesn't seem right.

To me, it seems that something else went wrong in negotiations or promises of Conor's further trajectory in UFC. Maybe something about about being promised a GSP fight in NY and then not getting it, or maybe Conor wanting to fight RDA with a a win over Diaz. I don't know.

It just seems like the whole "I won't do promo" is a reaction to another dispute that isn't public. Yet, none of the MMA journalists are drilling into other potential motives for Conor fighting against UFC now.

I just don't think he wants to fight Nate. Too much to lose, too much pressure, and Nate mentally broke him. The stress got to be too much and Conor looked for a way out. Add in some cognitive dissonance and the "too much promotion" nonsense became the way out.

Conor is having a natural reaction to fighting a guy who stole his soul. Conor is still a great fighter; he just needs to fight someone else.

I honestly do think it's about the promo. I think he realizes he hasn't been focusing on his training like he should and underestimated Diaz. He wants to improve his game before his fight camp. I think there was some disagreement on the time of the press tour, which conor doesn't want to budge from probably because if he switches schedules he won't get to train with the people he wants to train with.

Also hooly shit 2001 join date

He knew he couldn't beat Diaz with the short time frame he had to up his game. He's needs more time and came up with an excuse to get it. However it still won't be enough and he will lose again.

I think the all promo stuff is just a front or the smaller part of the issue in reality its about $ he asked for more they said "hey we just renegotiated and you have the best possible deal out of it no more" something like that seems more real to me.

Conor was pushing to see the max limits but he chose a so so moment.. good because it puts the squeeze on UFC 200 bad because his coming after a loss.

Like I said many times over in the past Conor is loved and both hated by the UFC he asks for a lot of money and makes other people ask for shit to.. things the UFC had on ice for many years, they never had someone that can negotiate with them from a better position.

You think Dana and co.. suddenly care about "fairness" and put UFC 200 in danger of less buys and have the media and fans on them for no good reason ? nope it's about $ and are trying to show Conor that their not ready to re-negotiate his shit yet again and this is it take it or leave it.

This is just smoke and mirrors the real fight is: fighter vs promotion with the stakes more $.

Dave Meltzer has said that he spoke to people in both camps & they say there is more to it than the promo thing, but even they don't know what it is.

Its a power struggle. Not that complicated and when all is said and done Conor will be back on UFC 200. Some injury will pop up a month before and everything will be back to normal. Although just for the record i hope Conor wins the battle

Yeah hea trying to buy more time so he can earn his 2nd degree white belt

This.

Why can't people see the obvious?

He's probably having a bad camp, and thinks he has enough leverage to break his contractual agreement. The LAST thing he wants to do is lose again, and he's been given waaaaay too much leeway (which is UFC's right, don't get me wrong). Now he's testing his limits, and has been brought back down to earth. You can't screw your business partner and the fans, after making a commitment and not expect repercussions, that btw, YOU AGREED TO!

I think he realized how much of a junk card UFC 200 turned out to be and he wants to distance himself as much as possible.

Unless he goes back down to 145, he can expect to fight guys like Diaz at LW. He was scheduled to fight RDA, I mean can you imagine what he would have done to Conor.

This, and deep down everyone knows it's really this. Admit it, the first thought you had when finding out Conor retired, this is what you all thought, then you guys came up with some $$$ BS, or whatever else excuse to not have Conor look like a ducking pussi.

Admit it, this is what you all feel deep down.

No there are lot's of people just making things up in their own minds , then insisting on sharing it on line .

I think it's helping his stock even more honestly

its a one of these or a combo

1) ego. they drew a line in the sand. nobody wants to back down
2) future implications. set an example for future fighters that want to stand up for themselves
3) money. conor and nate want big money

its clearly not promotion. the size of this fight and the promotion for it has grown by the day. its far bigger now than if conor showed up. if it was about promotion, then this was a huge success, not a fighter failing to fulfill their duties

he wants to get paid more bc he is bringing in a lot of revenue, ufc holding steady - everything else is pandering to the crowd
