Am I the only person excited to see a few more people using the lead leg side kicks more effectively in MMA. Even though Holly lost she caught Meisha with a few one was really nice and I thought would have hurt Miesha but she didn't seem too phased. And of course the beautiful performances by Wonderboy Thompson and the masterpiece he made on Hendricks.

I know Tae Kwon doe and other TMAs get a lot of hate around here but I just always love that technique

Yeah having a sidechick is great!
You should be excited!

wonder boy is the shit. Bruce lee knew about this shit since the SEG days.

Holly's side kicks were for the most part to Tate's upper thigh, just below her hip. I love those and they are very effective.

Others aim the kick right at or just above or just below the knee joint. I think they are cheap shots. Just like a knee to the upper inner thigh is good. To the cup or groin is cheap. Shots to the knee should be a foul.

I agree. Jones and Anderson are two of my favorites but I hate the fact that they use that. Very dirty and really should be illegal. You are basically attacking a joint. But they deem the stupid 12 to 6 elbow dangerous. I was mainly talking about sidekicks at or above the waist.

Holly hit Tate with a beautiful one right on the chesticles!!!

oblique mania 27

I grew up on trad martial arts and the step in side kick or turning side kick was always something I liked,

The day someone takes one to the face is gonna be horrific but to keep an opponent at bay great

I remember before MMA was even a thing, kicks like the type that Holly and Conor does was what we always saw in movies, and once I started watching MMA, I was surprised that hardly anyone used it. 99% percent of kicks are non side kicks.

So yeah, I'm excited to see it becoming more and more used. I especially like the way Holly uses it, where she kicks and then spins as she retracts. That gives her a few extra frames of recovery time to prevent a counter.

I love side kicks. When I did TKD it was my go to technique in point sparring and board breaking. I pretty much landed them at will when sparring.

When done right, no can defend.
