Am I the only one annoyed that DC pretends as if GUS never existed?

Didn’t DC recently say Gus was his toughest ever fight ?

TS, you probably are.

It’s not that Cormier pretends he doesn’t exist, it’s more of Cormier having fought many other great credentialed fighters that Gustafson was just that a tough fight, but his other opponents hold much more worth in his career.

Same as GSP barely talking about Hendricks, but talks more about Condit and Shields as his great oppositions. Some opppnents just have more worth to a fighters career than what fans believe should have more worth in them.

that's exactly what he does, see above
It’s probably some hyperbole mixed in with ego & where the conversation was headed, about Jones. I think you’re reading too much into it and cant really enjoy the conversation Cormier is having, due to some grudge you have for Cormier not mentioning Gustafson. A fighter saying he destroyed his opponents in relative to Jones is Cormier compiling all his opponents into one or percentage, it’s no different than Khamzat saying he smash everybody, but Usman & Burns gave him a tough fight. I believe you’re looking too much into it and trying to find a way shit on Cormier. Gustafson is a good fighter, but compared to the rest of Cormier resume, he’s not great even if he gave him a tough fight.

Yeah, I saw a clip of the Shannon Sharpe interview with DC. Sharpe asked DC who hit him the hardest.

The nerve of this guy to mention Dan Henderson instead of Rumble Johnson.

DC is in constant public situations, so he gets probably so much feedback what people care about. Everyone probably talks nonstop about Jones. Gus was the prototype for rank squatters today and is forgotten about because he basically stopped fighting after he was at the top, then lost every shot he had. Not to mention he really fell off hard towards the end.

Of course DC doesn't want to discuss the guy he handpicked coming off a 1st round KO loss as his first defence instead of fighting Bader who was the #1 contender and who he was repeatedly ducking (and did so again afterwards too). It backfired horribly on him and he instead found himself fighting tooth and nail, getting dropped, and arguably losing.

It's especially weird when to this day I'm not quite clear why he kept ducking Bader. Maybe after just being outwrestled by Jones he wasn't as confident in it in MMA as he used to be and feared Bader might outwrestle him too, but that still should've been his 1st defence and not Gus.

Anyways, it's also why he willingly chose to be stripped instead of rematch Jones or Gus like the UFC wanted. Didn't want to risk losing his title again in the octagon so instead wanted retired (and suspended) Brock Lesnar.

Nobody talks enough about what a duck and cherry picker DC was.

I believe you mean Jon Jones.

I'm pretty sure he said Gus was the hardest fight of his career a couple years ago. Back then a lot of people gave him shit for not saying it was Jones or Stipe. DC can't win.

It's probably because he's fake as fuck

gus is elite asf

a championship caliber fighter

gustafson is one of those unlucky fighters who didnt won a belt

imagine fighters like jiri and hill can win a belt
gustafson > alex pereira as well

Bro, that's twisting it.

DC is being cool as fuk there.

He's not trying to diss Gus.

He's giving credit to Boner Jones, a guy he probably doesn't like but is still acknowledging how amazing he was.

"The guy was so talented" - DC on Gus.

You can watch the whole thing if you want, but that's the only non-fight-related comment DC makes regarding Gus in the video.
