$230 a month for 4 hour long classes a week. Its BETA academy in DC and i have no other choices. Heres the thing though, all of my instructors are black belts and they all participate in MMA fights regularly and most have an MMA backround. We also have a fight team and so far I heard that one of them lost a fight a few months ago but they did operation octagon and won every fight they entered. Basically I like it a lot and thees no question the instructers are top notch its just a lot of money and also its the only good MMA school in DC. So any thoughts on that?

$230 a month??? wowww. Just checked the website and realized its a lloyd irvin affiliate....makes sense.

I'm from the area (NoVa) and there are many more options for you. $230 is a lot, even for TLI. If money is the issue, then that place may not be right for you. sometimes a little bit of a drive can ease the monthly rates.

It worth whatever you're willing to pay. Cost is relative.

Do you train at NOVA MMA? I remember seeing it as an option but I decided on BETA. If you do train there, how much are you paying? Money isn't a problem for me so I'm not being forced to move, its just i was seeing a lot of people paying less then half of what I pay for MMA.

230 seems like a lot for 4 classes a week, but I dont know what the prices are at other schools in the area. That cant be the only school in DC. Why do you say you dont have any other choices?

I think it is too much. The place Im training at gives you 3 bjj classes a week (Two 60 minute classes and one 90 minute class; Ill get more classes when I legally become an adult so I can switch into more Adult classes (Im in teen classes atm)) and Muay Thai kickboxing classes 3 times a week. Im paying 140 a month for that and it is an excellent school. The instructors are great and everyone is very helpful. Some People go to tournaments and since I signed up no one has placed less than 3rd. In other words, it's no McDojo.

I over-exaggerated when I said I don't have any other choices, I just don't have a car. BETA is very close to my house, the only problems I have is price and limited classes.

Shit ya you are

Also I'm not going to stop training, I plan to start doing ammy fights as soon as possible.

Dude...I'm paying $100 a month for 3 BJJ, 2 Wrestling, 2 no gi, and 3 mma classes a week. This is not listing the kickboxing and boxing classes I may miss throughout the week available to me. You're getting reamed, even if it is a TLI school.

I'm sure the instruction is very good, but I think it's too much. The only way you can come close to it being worth it for me is if there are classes available all day every day.

Man that's a lot. Even over here in Cali we have places no more that 200. Well let me take that back Rigan Machado just opened a new academy and he charges 250 for unlimited.

damn, for 4 hours only?? i think that's a little too much for me at least, im sure (if your focus is on bjj) i think you can go to another gym that would have the same or almost the same quality of teaching but will give you more hours. why dont you try 50/50? or yamasaki. unless you want to focus on mma which the schoolyou're enrolled in can give you.

230 a month would be reasonable for unlimited classes at a high level gym in an expensive city with a full-day schedule. Places like Renzo's, Team Nog SD, ATT, etc.

For four classes a week, it's way too much.

If there are any places in DC or near a Metro station near DC that you can suggest it would be helpfull. I was looking at NOVA but its also TLI so... maybe capitol mma?

50/50 is run by ryan hall, jen flanery and seph smith. all good instructors. and it's right beside a metro station.

I don't live in Nova anymore. I'm at the newest TLI affiliate in Virginia Beach. I hope you can find a better place man. good luck
