I think altitude suited him perfecty. His recovery after round 1 was impressive, especially because you lose more energy when you have to defend.

He conserved his energy well and considering how Jan dominated Adesanya, it was a great performance against the #3 of the division

What also impressed me is how well Jan took a few of those signature left hooks. I have to rewatch the fight, but there's one specifically that could have knocked out some fools

It was a great first fight psychologically for Pereira and i believe this will only solidify his confidence in his quest for the belt.

Who's next for him?

Totally agree

and am happy for him to fight for the title next

This is the worst version of Pereira we’ll see at LHW. He only just got to the weight class, I think he’ll look even better in his next fight and as time goes on.
Especially since the izzy ko was only 3 months ago..he will look better next fight

And let's not forget Jan is a former champ who has given problems to top contenders in the division

He's criminally underrated Jan, has been good because I've won some decent coin on him being a dog, so yes this win is significant.

Maybe I need to rewatch the fight but i thought Alex got controlled and lost, didn’t really see much from him that makes me think he can be a champ at 205

The more I look at it and take the live viewing factor away , I thought this was a great fight for Alex. For sure I thought he was gonna get subbed in the first but he came back and even when he got taken down I don't think I saw him take damage on the bottom. And in rd 2 he made his way back up.

I think this was a great test for his first fight in the division and even though he wasn't as complete as Jan he didn't shy away from the fight. Good experience for my guy Alex.

AND it was nice not to see a guy get a win just by scoring a worthless takedown in the last 40 seconds.

Aside from that odd performance against Glover, name a fighter who has looked good against Jan in recent years? IMO Alex did good, I thought the whole fight would be like first round was.

I really fail to see how 1.300m is altitude enough to influence one’s performance. Lived at a similar altitude all my life and never heard anyone complaining when they come from other places.
