I want to save money by not buying coffee, if I can help it.

Any ideas?

A set of push-ups when I get drowsy, perhaps? Or will that simply not work? :icon_neut

Exercise (so the push up thing would be good), eat right, don't focus on monotonous tasks without a break, converse with others (especially about things that get you riled up) etc.

You can do the natural things mentioned above, or you can go to GNC and buy a bottle of diet/energy pills. You can buy whichever is hot right now, because they cycle through pretty regularly. It'll be a $30-60 investment up front but comes out to around 50cent a pill.

Slap yourself hard in the face.

Much cheaper than coffee...

Do you have any gerbils?

Just brew your own at home.

While it's no surprise that making your own cup of coffee is cheaper than buying it on the outside, the savings over time are eye-opening. Here's a telling contrast: A 6-ounce cup of coffee made at home, at about 17 cents a cup per day, adds up to $1.19 a week and $62.05 a year. A 16-ounce grande coffee from Starbucks, at $2.29 per day, adds up to $16.03 per week, and a hefty $835.85 per year -- the price of a mini vacation.

This is the absolute best alternative to coffee in terms of sense of alertness it gives and it lasts a long time. Paradoxically it is also very calming (as opposed to coffee which, taken in quantity, leaves you feeling jittery).

I comes with a warning though:

1. The stuff tastes like absolute shit!
2. It won't save you much money over the cost of brewing coffee at home.
3. If you take it on an empty stomach you will suffer greatly!

This is the price you have to pay to get something that actually works.

Healthy eating, more sleep, more exercise.
