Discuss your own ideas about the purpose of pyramids, if you believe they are older than officially dated, and if you believe the Great Pyramid and other structures on the GIZA plateau are perhaps quite a bit different than the rest of the pyramids in Egypt and other places in the world.

Here is the internal ramp theory...It is relatively well thought out, but it's still an orthodoxy based theory, meaning the time scales imagined to be involved (around 20 plus years to build the Great Pyramid, etc...) are still ludicrous so it throws the rest of theory into question for me.



This is probably the most mind bending video on the pyramids available today...well, the best video that doesn't go crazy with angles that aren't based on fact (IE, aliens, laser beams and shit like that). This video shows all the anomolies regarding the incredible sophistication of the math and precision involved with the Great Pyramid.

Noah built the pyramids after the great flood. At least that's what I believe.
 
Why does it taking 20 years to build make you throw it out? Cathedrals in England took just as long to build.

I meant that as a statement regarding it having to have taken MUCH longer than 20 years...which if it did basically throws out the tomb for Khufu theory...as if the fact that no body has ever been found contemporary to a pyramids construction in Egypt wouldn't be enough to laugh away the tomb theory on any pyramid anyway.

because modern estimates by modern limestone quarry officials in Indiana (the place where the empire state building got it's limestone) have stated that it would take them at LEAST 20 years, at three times their current capacity, with all their modern equipment, to cut and move the stones...which doesn't even account for actually building the pyramids.

There are 2.4 million blocks of stone in the Great Pyramid, it has a 13.5 acre foot print, and it weighs over 6 million tons. Most people have a hard time really wrapping their head around exactly what the great pyramid is in terms of its scope.

That's 12,000,000,000 lbs for you mathmagicians out there. Think about that. It's got the same amount of stone as 30 Empire State Buildings...that is outrageous.

I like your avatar TS I noticed it the first time I saw it. Theres metal found in that chamber that hadnt even been discovered when the pyramids were built thats hard to explain away. Also the pyramids are almost exactly in the middle of the earth and pointed to star constellations back then. Ye I dont believe the crap about land bridges and jews as slaves building the pyramids. The rocks used to build the pyramids weighed around 2 tons each I dont see people being able to move that kind of weight around and so high
 
I don't know what they were built for, or when, but the accepted theories are obvious forgeries. Zechariah sitchin goes over in great detail about how some harebrained amateur archeologist from the UK duped people. Mr sitchin's other theories are way out there, but his evidence for the forgery is very compelling.

AndKnowWeKnow, you should watch The Pyramid Code. Really entertaining views on the Egyptian pyramids. Sort of an Ancient Aliens vibe to them, but they're fun to watch and ponder on.

I think one of the most interesting theories I heard about ancient pyramids was that they were some type of worldwide positive energy transmitter or something like that. I'm paraphrasing like crazy here, but the theory on it was cool. Not saying that was definitely what they were used for, but ya never know

Most Cathedrals took a lot longer than 20 years to build. You can actually look at the various parts of a cathedral and follow the evolution of art and technology by the styles incorporated in sections built decades apart.

Like it would start out in early medieval style or Romanesque and end up in gothic.

Edit: apparently the cologne cathedral was started in the 1200s and was not finished until 1880.

The pyramids were built by skilled laborers. This is pretty well documented, and has tons of evidence to support it. It's not a fringe theory. If you think anything but that built the pyramids, you're probably not a smart man.

Sitchen is unfortunately a tainted source...however, you're exactly correct about Howard Vyse. It's pretty well established and understood for anyone who has examined the supposed "Khufu Cartouche" in the upper relieving chamber in the "kings chamber" that it's a clear forgery. The cartouche has a grammatical error in it that was documented to have come from that exact period of time when Howard Vyse was there doing "work" of discovery on the Great Pyramid.

What's silly is that that forgery is used as evidence by orthodox Egyptology as evidence it was built by Khufu. It's really hilarious.

I've seen Boulter's Pyramid Code...it makes a lot of leaps but it's still fascinating. I don't' think the suggestion is aliens, more a much earlier date for the pyamids construction.

Machining experts and engineers are basically unanimous in the fact that the tools used to create the great pryamid are simply not in the archaeological record. Doesn't mean Aliens...I personally think it means it either all got destroyed OR we're looking at a much earlier date of construction.
 
David Rohl is an Egyptologist whom has written a new Chronology for Egypt. Most the books you see out there regarding re-dating Egypt are written by people with no actual education in Egyptian history other than their own curiosity. But David Rohl is actually a legitimate scholar on the matter and he does believe that the dates are off regarding Egypt. Other scholars don't buy his theory, but while they are quick to write off your average New Age authors, they generally acknowledge that David Rohl's theories should at least be given a respectable consideration. I've read some of his stuff and it is very very articulate and well thought out.

Can you expand on this? The earth is a sphere and the pyramids are on the its surface so how are they almost exactly in the middle of the earth?

Center of Land Mass: The Great Pyramid is located at the center of the land mass of the earth. The east/west parallel that crosses the most land and the north/south meridian that crosses the most land intersect in two places on the earth, one in the ocean and the other at Giza.

Not exactly uninteresting given the above context. Probably, like the inclusion of PI into the Great Pyramid, just another wild coincidence:)

It should be said that this is a disputed fact...mainly based on how you would actually define the center of landmass. It's still interesting nonetheless.
