While there are many reasons to hate on Dana nowadays, he truly has been an integral part of the sport and its growth. Without a pitbull like him, we wouldn't be where we are now, he even sacrificed his hair for it.

100% should be thanked by every fan of the sport for having saved it.
No casual fan would have cared about Bellator or strikeforce w/o the UFC.
Pride did in fact die.

He's the most effective promoter, but no, MMA was not saved by anyone lol. MMA would still be a thing even if Dana White didn't exist.
