I'm not hating on the guy, but I'd like to know why he hasn't fought in a year and a half. Has he been injured? I know the Hendricks situation wasn't his fault, but that was close to a year ago wasn't it? Was he holding out for a title shot? If he was, I'm not sure he deserves the shot then, because if you're in a situation where youre fighting for a title, then your mindset should be I can beat anybody they put in front of me. Holding out for a shot, is basically saying your not willing to fight because if you lose, then there goes your shot. Am I right with this thinking?

He decided to hold out for a shot. Which I feel may cost him.

Yea he was holding out waiting for a shot, and no he doesn't really deserve one, especially after getting his ass handed to him by Rory.

Not much talk. A few friends that watch half the PPVs a year don't know who he is.

Does this really deserve another thread?

He was promised the title shot after Hendricks shat the bed for their scheduled fight.

He claims that he never held out and was never contacted for a new fight. That's not unbelievable because there are plenty of other top level guys who can't get fights scheduled.

Given the fact that people are around here lobbying for the likes of Dan Henderson, Nick Diaz and GSP to get immediate title shots, I find it ridiculous that Woodley, who is more deserving than any of the aforementioned, is getting so much shit.

The fight is scheduled for next month. If they try and change things up now, it's going to clog the division up even further.

Dude's not going to win anyway, so I really don't understand the "outrage" besides it being an indirect means to attack a guy who doesn't have much fan support.

He's got two wins since that loss to Rory.

I can respect the fact he held the brass to its word regarding his title shot.

Stun Gun and Overweight Kelvin aren't exactly the type of wins that give you a title shot. Well, apparently they are, but they shouldn't be.

Congrats on the red belt my brutha :)

Thanks man:D

I've got Woodley beating Roobie

He has no business getting a title fight, I can't get too mad because I was all about that Condit title shot but Woodley is just a dull fighter. Isn't active and has no top wins since 2014 meanwhile we've got Stephen Thompson who just beat guys that were ranked 1 & 2 in the division back to back and people think he needs another fight first.

Gustafsson got KOd and got a title shot

Yeah that sitting out shit is risky business. Lawler has fought twice since TWood has last fought and Lawler had just fought when Woodley barely beat Gastelum. The other thing about this fight is that it only happened to keep Lawler active because the Wonderboy/Rory fight for the real number one contender, happened half a year after Robbie's last fight. Woodley doesn't really deserve this shot. A win over Stun Gun followed be squeaking out a split decision over Gastelum both of which were right after losing to Rory. I don't really believe in rewarding fighters for inactivity but the inactivity is also rarely rewarded in the cage. I think TWood will get knocked out by Robbie in the first three rounds.

The point is not to make it a trend though.

The point is invalid. It's not about it being a trend, it's that the UFC (in these cases) is acting out of necessity. They will continue to do so when necessary.
