All Things Space

Nope.

Like most people, I used to think "yes" but I once heard Noam Chomsky say something that made me think otherwise. It was something like, "If we accept that humans are organic creatures and organisms have limitations, then we must believe that human understanding and ability have limits. If we're angels or some other supernatural beings, then we have no limits."

Broke my heart but made total sense. We should always strive to continually achieve and discover more and more, but the limits do exist.

Organisms push their limits as a means to survive, and thus evolve. Stretch the timeline out long enough and it's difficult to say where our limitations will lie.

Can anyone think of a cool space related xmas present for my cousin. Hes 7.

Most book stores like Barnes & Noble will often have oversize picture books with various glossy full color images of space (nebulas, galaxies etc) for dirt cheap.

go to youtube and type in "orgazmo **** rocket"
not sure if that would be a no no to post here

**** is like another name for a rooster

And did anyone see the article about the former NASA employee stating that she saw two figures in space suits walking across the surface of Mars when we had the Viking Lander was there in 1979? Thoughts?

didn't read the whole article, but seeing one of the quotes early on in the article where she refers to it as the "Viking rover" and that it was "running around" when it was a lander and not a rover, and i don't believe it was going anywhere.

i don't think there's any reason to take her claims particularly seriously.

When I was a child their were 9 planets. There are now 90 planets.

Not too cheap though, you want him looking at the stars not the neighbors.

How does that happen. What causes the stars, planets, dust,etc... to just leave the big area empty. Is there some sort of dark matter pocket sitting there that we can't see.

Now that is the most interesting picture of space I've ever seen!

EDIT: Different images yield different results. It looks as though it is L.E.S.S. populated not completely depopulated as I thought.

That's a good question I'll try and think of something. Amazon probably has something really cool. I had a hard time picking something for my nieces because there was so many cool things. A cheap beginner's/kids telescope?

Well seems that idea was already given. I think he'd really like that. I would love a telescope at 31.

it's a conspiracy

it's blacked out to hide a massive alien structure

Perhaps we are out here in the middle of nowhere for a reason. Perhaps it is going to take a few hundred thousand years of society building before we, as a society, will be ready for the truth regarding aliens. Humanity has progressed very far in a few thousand years. But we are at the very beginning of the consciousness spectrum, and likely will not be encountering alien cultures, if they exist, for a long long time. Certainly not in our lifetimes.

and that makes me very sad

Something major better happen in my lifetime. It's all I want. I want a manned mission outside of the solar system, official contact with intelligent life, manned mission to something other than Mars, some amazing space travel technology, etc. Although us landing on Mars soon will be pretty bad ass.

So far the greatest thing that's ever happened to me is seeing multiple craft flying around in space one night.

would anyone be willing to go on a Interstellar type mission?

Fuck yeah I would but I'm pretty confident I couldn't physically handle it. And i'm too much of a pussy to travel through a wormhole or land on that first planet the way they did. But if I could be put to sleep then wake up when we were traveling in space fuck yes.
