All jokes and S--- posting aside, was the Connor/khabib fight really that much of a mismatch?

Almost equivalent to being perfect in street fighter except Khabib decided to block a few hadoukens and shoryukens. Conor got Zangiefed hard
 
This dude wrestled bears. He grabs your legs and traps them and climbs up your body with the top of his thick head. I’d imagine just about every one he fights honestly wished it was just over at some point of the fight. It’s weird bc the more afraid you are of the takedown the worse you fight but FUCK if the whole Round isn’t over if he gets his hands on you. I think this cat could beat Brock lesnar up.

considering your join date... ya i cared a little. but i dont feel like it was as big of a mismatch as people make it seem. not to mention conor looked off to me. i think his problem was he didnt threw enough early on to worry khabib and that was his downfall

It was a dominant showing for sure. But didn’t Connor end up being well enough to jump a fence and fight off two pussies afterwards? I thought he was gonna re arrange his face? Still seeing that mug on every commercial

“Mismatch” is a just a word, and it takes on whatever meaning is prescribed to it by the speaker. If Khabib vs Conor was a mismatch then all of Khabib’s fights have been mismatches.

It’s all or nothing with a grappling-heavy fighter. Look at the way all of Maia’s fights are one-sided in one direction or the other. If fighters like that get the takedowns they win.
 
Lots of fun fights for Conor .... Khabib isn’t one of them imo
 
The fight said more about Khabib's greatness than anything else.

Conor was up 2 rounds to 1 cruising to a comfortable decision win, he was just caught in a freak submission, it's a game of inches and the better fighter doesn't always prevail.

So tough. You feel like (a) you want to make the most of the time on your feet; and (b) chaos and unpredictability is probably your best friend. But how many time have we seen a guy step in with one big overhand and end up on his ass two seconds later?

Whatever he does he needs to keep those strikes straight. Front kicks to the body (or even chin if he can get it up there), straight lefts, etc.

Honestly? I wanted Khabib to smoke him last time so bad. But if they rematch? Wouldn’t be surprised to find myself rooting for McGregor.
 
Mismatch to me is something like Royce Gracie coming back to fight Matt Hughes. While Conor never had Khabib in trouble it really wasn't a mismatch. It was a lot more competitive than Woodley vs Usman and many other title fights turned out to be.

On paper not a mismatch but what did conor do to Khabib? He didn’t really land anything and definitely not any significant strikes...he got thoroughly dominated.

He was dominated but like I said, we've all seen a lot of title fights that were worse than that one. Conor did win a round by outworking Khabib. I just don't like the word mismatch i guess. i dont' think fights like that quality. It's more for fights like my example of Gracie vs Hughes where one guy had no business even being in there with him.
 
Khabib thoroughly controlled the fight. Outstruck, outgrappled, and generally just beat McGregor up without taking any damage.

He won one round by points and not doing any damage. I get your point but it was still a mismatch based on the hype going into it
