Wales' first minister Vaughan Gething resigns as ministers quit

Vaughan Gething will stand down as Welsh first minister, only four months after taking the job.

Wales's First Minister Vaughan Gething has announced his resignation, only four months after taking the job.

It comes after three of his Welsh government ministers and his top legal adviser dramatically released resignation statements calling for him to stand down.

Mr Gething has been embroiled in controversy since he took over in March, and has been dogged by questions over a £200,000 campaign donation from a businessman convicted of environmental offences.

In his resignation statement he denied wrongdoing, adding: "I regret that the burden of proof is no longer an important commodity in the language of our politics."

I'd say look a little deeper. A lot of these figures got short changed. Sunak was chosen by his own party (not elected by the public) to head up a corruption-riven failing government. Hamza was brought in to head up a dying SNP wrecked by scandal having to share power with the Greens which eventually ended his tenure. Gething was set up from the get-go and has resigned just after 4 months as leader. And you forgot Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng who was stitched up properly by then PM Liz Truss with her shocking budget that she blamed on him. Seems to me these people of colour got chewed up and spat out. Conveniently diverse scape goats who got handed poison chalices.

The only one that's lasted is Sadiq Khan who got elected because he was genuinely the most favoured candidate who inherited no damaging baggage.

If you want to look at the UK Cabinet, here they are. They are mostly ethnically British, although the Home Secretary, which is a very senior position, is not, nor was his predecessor. The Home Secretary is James Cleverly, who is half Sierra-Leonian.

I also haven't included the King or the President of Ireland, Michael Higgins as those are basically ceremonial roles, unless you believe in conspiracy theories.
